This posting is for one unionized contractual course-by-course appointment to teach one course as a Course Lecturer. Course lecturer positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and McGill Course Lecturers and Instructors Union (MCLIU)-CSN.

Course Description

This course draws on the fields of learning theory, developmental psychology, and measurement to focus on the tasks of constructing instructional materials. Areas to be considered include behaviour analysis, concept formation, and test construction.

CL Credits: 3 (This course is not team-taught)

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):

Education

• Master’s or PhD (or candidates) in Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology, Applied Psychology, or equivalent. 

Experience

• Demonstrated knowledge of modern and seminal social-cultural theories underpinning Learning Science as evidenced by completed courses, research output, TA work, or course instruction. 
• Scholarship in the Learning Sciences an asset 
• Background and/or courses related to Instruction design
• Knowledge of modern and seminal methods common to the Learning Sciences an asset 
• Experience in educational settings and/or course design
• Experience in college/university teaching in this subject or professional experience in teaching K-12
• Experience teaching educators

• If the applicant has taught this course exactly once previously, they are eligible to apply. This condition does not apply to applicants who have taught the course at least twice.
• If the applicant has not taught this course previously but has taught in the hiring unit, they are eligible to apply.
• Adherence to evolving program requirements concerning course content and program-developed competencies; course content and references must reflect the most current advances in the field.​

Additional Information

Effective dates of appointment are December 29, 2025 to May 1, 2026. Course dates are from January 5, 2026 to April 14, 2026. This course will be offered in-person on campus at McGill.
