Requirements
- For the Certified Medical Assistant pathway, graduate from an accredited school granting a Medical Assistant diploma.
- For the Certified Medical Assistant pathway, hold certification through AMAA or CCMA.
- For the LPN pathway, graduate from an accredited school for licensed practical nurses.
- For the LPN pathway, hold current practical nurse licensure in Wisconsin.
- For the LPN pathway, complete a pharmacology course.
- Hold Basic Life Support certification.
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds while transferring and positioning patients and maneuvering equipment.
- Be able to occasionally bend, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead to assist with patient care or retrieve equipment and supplies.
- Use near and far vision to review patient records, computer screens, charts, gauges, monitors, and related clinical information.
Responsibilities
- Support the Specialty Clinic in Sleep Medicine and Consulting.
- Perform patient-care, technical, and clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
- Provide clinic patient care as directed by the provider or registered nurse.
- Attend to the psychosocial needs of patients and families as a member of the patient-care team.
- Schedule, develop, and review protocols, procedures, and job descriptions as part of the role's administrative and clinical duties.
- Assist with patient care and equipment handling using gait belts and transfer devices when needed.
