Requirements
  • A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university is required.
  • A current New York State Occupational Therapy License is required; new graduates may apply pending licensure.
  • Applicants must be able to work with children from birth through five years of age.
  • Applicants must design appropriate functional goals using Individualized Education Program directives.
  • Applicants must collect data on Individualized Family Service Plan and Individualized Education Program goals and report progress quarterly.
  • Applicants must maintain accurate and timely attendance and billing logs.
  • Applicants must create and maintain schedules with assigned families and school personnel.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement creative individual and group therapeutic interventions for children on the caseload.
  • Administer and write occupational therapy evaluations.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations in clinic, home, and preschool-based settings.
  • Write detailed evaluation reports demonstrating each child's abilities and areas of difficulty.
  • Communicate on an ongoing basis with lead supervisors and coordinators regarding case management.
  • Maintain professional relationships with families, school teams, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and the evaluation team.
  • Provide input and attend or participate by teleconference in initial Committee on Preschool Special Education and Committee on Special Education meetings and annual reviews.

  • Bilingual ability is a plus.

A multi-disciplinary team delivers services such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), special instruction, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and mental health support, all aimed at understanding each person’s needs and teaching skills that increase independence and improve quality of life. The approach centers on tailoring supports to the individual and coordinating multiple specialists under one umbrella to address behavioral, educational, and developmental goals. Unlike providers who offer limited services, Family of Kidz combines multiple therapies and supports in one coordinated program, helping clients progress from birth through adulthood. The goal is to help individuals with special needs overcome barriers to progress and gain new skills for greater independence and better outcomes.
