Requirements
  • Completion of a Civil Engineering diploma or degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three to four years of land development and/or municipal design experience.
  • Eligibility for future registration as an Engineer-in-Training, Applied Science Technologist, Certified Engineering Technologist, Certified Technician, or Professional Engineer within the province of work, or an approved equivalent.
  • High-level expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with stormwater and water modeling software.
  • Experience in commercial, subdivision, and site plan design.
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of design assignments on a project team, including Civil 3D design.
  • Assume responsibility for the conceptual and detailed design phases of municipal infrastructure expansion and site plan design, cost estimating, engineering analysis and reporting, tender preparation and contract award, and contract administration during construction for land development projects and/or capital works improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, primarily using Civil 3D and related applications, for assigned land development and municipal engineering projects.
  • Prepare road designs and final grading for urban residential development projects.
  • Develop engineering drawings and designs for land development and related water resources projects.
  • Participate in full-service design of civil and municipal engineering projects.
  • Design stormwater management, site grading, sanitary sewer, and water distribution systems for subdivision and land development engineering projects.
  • Interpret topographic information required for design.
  • Perform site and lot grading.
  • Complete technical analysis of municipal infrastructure components.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Compile as-built records for design and record drawings.
  • Prepare contract documents for project tendering and execute project design drawings.
  • Prepare site grading, servicing, erosion and sediment control plans, details, and notes in AutoCAD for site plan applications.
  • Prepare functional servicing and stormwater management reports in support of zoning by-law amendments and site plan applications.
  • Prepare water and wastewater servicing calculations for proposed land development projects.
  • Prepare stormwater management quantity and quality calculations.
  • Coordinate design with the consultant team, including architects, landscape architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, traffic consultants, hydrogeologists, and geotechnical engineers.
  • Prepare formal response letters to approving agencies addressing development engineering comments.
