CelcomDigi expands MY5G SME Digital Workshop to help Malaysian SMEs grow.

CelcomDigi expands MY5G SME Digital Workshop to help Malaysian SMEs grow. PENANG, 14 AUGUST 2026 - Now in its fourth year, the nationwide digital skills programme has reached more than 3,000 entrepreneurs, helping SMEs strengthen their digital presence and adopt practical technology solutions. CelcomDigi Berhad ("CelcomDigi") has rolled out another edition of its MY5G SME Digital Workshop, supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia with practical digital skills and technology solutions to improve competitiveness in the digital economy. Now in its fourth year, the programme has positively impacted more than 3,000 local entrepreneurs. The latest edition kicked off in Penang this week, with more than 300 SMEs taking part in the Northern leg of the programme. The nationwide initiative will be held across 14 locations in Malaysia. Helping SMEs navigate digitalisation. At the heart of the programme is CelcomDigi's commitment to helping local SMEs access practical digital knowledge and tools that can support business growth. New formats have also been introduced this year to better address the needs of businesses at different stages of development. For early-stage businesses, workshop modules focus on establishing a strong digital presence, while more established enterprises are introduced to technology solutions that can be easily integrated into their daily operations. The programme aims to make digitalisation more accessible by focusing on practical applications that SMEs can implement in their businesses. Bringing digital solutions closer to Malaysian businesses. The MY5G SME Digital Workshop is being held across 14 locations nationwide, with the Northern leg bringing together more than 300 SMEs. CelcomDigi has partnered with a range of organisations for the programme, including Funding Societies Malaysia, Swipey, CTOS Data Systems (CTOS), CardUp, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), SME Bank, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp), Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (SAMENTA), Digital Penang, Onsmo Lighting Malaysia and TikTok Shop Malaysia. The collaboration provides participating businesses with access to expertise and solutions covering areas such as financing, credit information, payments, digital tools and e-commerce. From three-wheel cart to 13 outlets. Feedback from participating SMEs has been encouraging, with business owners highlighting the practical nature of the workshops. Puan Noor Shamsiah bt Mohd Farouk and her husband, Encik Mohd Hasnizam bin Abu Bakar, owners of Dapur Bakar Ayam Goreng Kunyit, took part in last year's digital workshop in Penang. The couple started their business in Penang with a humble three-wheel cart and have since expanded their operations to 13 outlets nationwide. "We had been struggling to reach new customers online and did not know where to start. The workshop gave us practical ideas we could apply immediately, particularly around content and social commerce," said Puan Shamsiah. "It helped us see how digital tools can solve a real challenge for our business, rather than simply being another technology to adopt." Dapur Bakar Ayam Goreng Kunyit is also a customer of CelcomDigi's Business Postpaid and Fibre solutions, benefiting from reliable connectivity to support its growing operations. Skuad 5G Edisi SME takes digitalisation to the ground. Beyond the workshops, the programme also included market visits to locations such as Pasar Awam Bagan Ajam and Pasar Awam Sri Muda in Penang as part of Skuad 5G Edisi SME. The initiative facilitated direct engagement with more than 110 business owners, allowing CelcomDigi to better understand the challenges and needs faced by local SMEs. These on-the-ground engagements complement the workshops by bringing digitalisation discussions directly to business communities. Making digitalisation practical for SMEs. T Kugan, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of CelcomDigi, said SMEs do not need digitalisation to be complicated, but instead require solutions that address their everyday business challenges. "SMEs do not need digitalisation to be complicated. They need solutions that address challenges such as reaching new customers, managing cash flow, creating content or finding the right partners to grow," he said. "That is why our workshops are focused on providing practical knowledge, open access to industry experts and hands-on learning on how technology can transform business for the better." He added that CelcomDigi's on-ground engagements are equally important in making digitalisation more relevant and accessible to Malaysian SMEs. "Our on-ground engagements are equally important because they bring conversations directly to business owners. This is important in helping us make digitalisation more relevant, accessible and actionable for Malaysian SMEs," he said. Supporting SME growth through digital adoption. Through the MY5G SME Digital Workshop Series 2026, CelcomDigi aims to equip more Malaysian businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to strengthen their digital presence, improve operations and compete in an increasingly digital economy. The programme's focus on practical learning, technology adoption and direct engagement reflects the growing importance of digitalisation for SMEs seeking to reach new customers and scale their businesses. The full workshop schedule and further information on the MY5G SME Digital Workshop Series 2026 are available through CelcomDigi Business.

Financial analytics platform Kixmon launches profit-tracking tool for TikTok Shop Creator campaigns.

Financial analytics platform Kixmon launches profit-tracking tool for TikTok Shop Creator campaigns. Why GMV isn't enough for creator campaigns. Gross Merchandise Value has long been the default metric for evaluating TikTok Shop creator campaigns. It's simple: a creator drives orders, the number looks impressive, and teams move on. But GMV tells you nothing about whether those orders actually made money. A creator might rack up thousands in sales while quietly eroding margins through refunds, commissions, and ad spend that outweigh the revenue. Kixmon's new TikTok Shop Creator Profit Tracker tackles this blind spot head-on. By pulling data from TikTok Shop, Ads Manager, and Affiliate Center through official APIs, the dashboard calculates true profitability at the creator, product, and SKU level. It's a shift from asking "who sells the most?" to "who profits the most?" - a distinction that separates thriving brands from those bleeding cash. How the tracker works: from raw data to real profit. The platform consolidates operational and financial data that typically lives in separate tools. Instead of exporting spreadsheets from three different sources and hoping the numbers align, brands get a unified view that automatically factors in product costs, creator commissions, refunds, shipping, platform fees, and prior ad spend. The result is a per-creator net profit figure, not just a top-line revenue estimate. Integration with official APIs. Kixmon connects directly to TikTok's Seller Center, Ads Manager, and Affiliate Center. This means real-time syncing of orders, ad spend, and affiliate commissions - no manual uploads, no lag, no errors. For brands running dozens of creator partnerships, this automation alone saves hours of reconciliation work. Making smarter scaling decisions. Once a creator relationship has enough data - order volume, content history, and associated costs - brands face a critical decision: double down, adjust, or cut ties. The tracker provides the financial clarity needed to make that call confidently. Marketing teams can compare revenue against costs to see which collaborations generate positive returns and which need renegotiation, whether that means adjusting commission terms, reducing ad spend, or reconsidering sampling budgets. Beyond the basics: uncovering hidden costs. One of the tracker's standout features is its ability to surface hidden fees that commonly slip through manual calculations. Platform commissions, shipping surcharges, refund deductions, ad credits, affiliate payouts - even VAT - are automatically accounted for. Kixmon says it identifies over 45 such adjustments, giving brands a complete picture of what they're actually spending and earning. This depth of detail is what transforms a simple profit calculation into a strategic advantage. Real-World benefits for different business models. The tool isn't just for large brands. Dropshippers, small sellers, and content-driven businesses all stand to benefit. Dropshipping operations, for example, can input estimated shipping costs that are later replaced with actual figures from TikTok's API upon order settlement. This ensures accurate profit calculations regardless of shipping method, whether it's FBT, TikTok Shipping, or seller-managed logistics. Implementing the tracker: simple setup, immediate insights. Getting started takes roughly 15 minutes for most accounts - up to 45 minutes for high-volume sellers. After signing up and connecting their TikTok Shop account, users see their financial data populate in real time. The dashboard breaks down profit daily, monthly, or by product, and allows for tracking recurring and one-time expenses like agency retainers, UGC production, or software subscriptions. The future of creator commerce: profit-driven decisions. As TikTok Shop matures, successful brands will move beyond vanity metrics and embrace financial granularity. The Creator Profit Tracker reflects a broader industry shift toward accountability - where every marketing dollar is justified by its contribution to the bottom line. By giving brands the tools to measure creator success in real terms, Kixmon isn't just solving a data problem; it's redefining how creator partnerships are evaluated and scaled.

TikTok Shop boosts brand awareness, but Amazon still dominates sales for small businesses

A Kansas underwear entrepreneur inspired by Chinese livestreaming success has built a TikTok Shop operation with 11 livestreamers and contracts with 2,000 content creators. Jared Mortensen's Real Men Apparel generates $10 million in annual sales, with 15% coming from TikTok Shop, 50% from Amazon, and 35% from its own website. Mortensen credits TikTok with saving his business during a 2023-2024 cash crunch by raising brand awareness. However, Amazon remains the dominant sales channel. A Scottish travel pillow brand reports similar results, with TikTok Shop accounting for just 5% of sales versus Amazon's 50%, though both founders attribute growth on other platforms to TikTok's promotional effect. The platform requires intensive content creation. Mortensen's team posts frequent videos, including unconventional product demonstrations.

The program is dedicated to discovering emerging artists, helping them grow dedicated fan communities, and supporting them in their transition from livestream performances to real-world music careers. Returning in 2026 with a refreshed format, Music on Stage brings together talented music creators from over 20 regions across the globe, enabling them to perform live, connect with new audiences, and access new opportunities through TikTok Live and SoundOn, TikTok's music distribution and artist services platform. The program also resulted in original music being professionally produced and released for its global winners, demonstrating how TikTok Live can help transform emerging creators into artists with full music careers. Auditions begin on August 15, launching with a special All-Day Global Relay Concert that will see artists from around the world perform live in celebration of music without borders. Spanning three days, the relay will showcase original songwriting, live musicianship, and standout performances from some of TikTok Live's most exciting creators. The 2026 Global Finals in September will be hosted by British singer-songwriter Cat Burns for the EMEA and Americas competition, while Thai singer-songwriter Songkarn will host the APAC Finals. A second guest judge will be announced in the coming weeks. The top creators will gain access to professional development opportunities in partnership with SoundOn, like recording and releasing original music with full production, distribution, and promotional support. Winning artists will also have the chance to perform on major live stages, such as TikTok Live Fest and selected music festivals worldwide. Last year's winners include Angelyque Solorio, who released her debut EP through SoundOn, generating more than 350,000 creator videos on TikTok, increasing her Spotify monthly listeners tenfold, and accumulating more than 450,000 streams. "Music on Stage reflects everything that makes TikTok Live unique," said Shen Gao, Head of Live Operations, Americas, at TikTok. "Every day we see talented artists build genuine communities, develop loyal fanbases, and share their music with audiences around the world in real time. This program takes that one step further by giving emerging artists the opportunity not only to be discovered, but to develop sustainable careers beyond the platform. We're proud to help the next generation of music talent move from livestreams to record releases and festival stages." "Music on Stage is TikTok Live's biggest global music competition and a chance for you to share your music with the world," added Cat Burns. "We all know that TikTok has played a massive part in my journey, and I am so grateful to the platform, so this year I will be joining Music on Stage as a guest judge, and I am so excited! Finals will be on the 18th of September, and the winner gets all the support in recording and releasing their own original song. So register now, go live, and I can't wait to see what you create." Creators can register for Music on Stage until August 14, with auditions opening on August 15. Fans can follow along throughout the competition by searching #MusicOnStage in the TikTok app and tuning into the Global Relay Concert and subsequent TikTok Live broadcasts.

TikTok Shop claims 2% of US online retail market, overtaking Target and Costco

TikTok Shop accounted for about 2% of online US retail spending in July, surpassing major retailers like Target, Costco, and The Home Depot, according to credit and debit card transaction data from Consumer Edge. This marks a significant increase from around 1.2% a year ago. The platform has been aggressively expanding its e-commerce capabilities since launching in 2023, recently introducing an Amazon Prime-style membership programme with free shipping and managed services for sellers. TikTok Shop pulled in over $500 million in US sales during last year's Black Friday Cyber Monday week and has onboarded major brands including Samsung, Disney, and Ralph Lauren. Power users making 20 or more purchases quarterly drove about 30% of overall spending whilst representing just 5% of buyers. Shoppers over 35 became the fastest-growing age demographic by year-over-year spending in Q2.
