- No formal education or prior experience is required.
- Must maintain standards of appearance.
- Must communicate with guests, housekeepers, the main linen room attendant, and the supervisor.
- Must be able to assess the required response to meet standards.
- Must be able to push a vacuum the entire length of a hallway and carry supplies, dirty linen, room-service trays, and dirty dishes.
- Must be able to bend and kneel to dust and retrieve items from the floor.
- Must be mobile enough to reach shelves, windows, ledges, pipes, and areas under and around furniture.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk continuously while performing the job.
- Must be able to climb stairs, approximately 40 steps for 15% of a 40-hour workweek.
- Must have availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Walk all assigned floors at the beginning and end of each shift; remove newspapers and service trays and empty trash receptacles.
- Remove trash and linens and identify areas requiring immediate cleaning.
- Clean hallways, elevators, service areas, stairwells, and other public areas according to housekeeping, safety, and security procedures.
- Remove soiled linen, terry, and trash from service areas and take them to the appropriate locations.
- Aid section housekeepers with items such as bed boards and roll-aways.
- Stock linen and supply closets to maintain par inventories.
- Report missing or found articles, damage, or merchandise problems to the Senior Housekeeper or supervisor.
- Respond to guest requests and questions and report guest issues and complaints hospitably.
