As the face of the infusion center, you will have the key provider responsible for Infusion medical treatment, response management, and post care for patients after receiving a physician order. In addition, the Infusion APRN will administer and monitor patients in our premises during treatment and provide the necessary education on treatment regimen, condition
management, and treatment side-effects when appropriate. The Infusion APRN is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team and will work closely with other staff.
Responsibilities:
- Chart/schedule review
- Provides peer to peer support (excluding scenarios where direct outreach to Director of Clinical Services or VP of Clinical Services is appropriate)
- Participate in the training of new Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistant including Supervised Treatment Days and providing support during orientation period
- Participates in specialized one on one training of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants when needed (ultrasound training, Port training, etc.)
- Provides coverage for the Director of Clinical Services per prearranged schedule in terms of peer-to-peer support, scheduling questions, etc.
- Completes monthly Emergency Kit Checks and fills out checklist in entirety each month
- Completes Fire and Safety Inspection checklist and log on a monthly basis, and sends to the Director of Clinical Services once completed
- Ensures Oxygen Tank Monitoring log is correctly filled out by designated Infusion Care Nurse
- Completes monthly AED battery check
- Ensures ultrasound machine is charged and ready for use
- Communicates with Intake Team and Director of Clinical Services regarding new inventory items that are needed
- Assists with the interview and hiring process for Infusion Care Nurses at designated location to include initial resume review, arranging initial phone interview, arranging face-to-face interview and updates Director of Clinical Services and VP of Clinical Services of process along the way
- Participates in the training of Infusion Care Nurses for designated location, as well as cross training for Infusion Care Nurses from other locations
- Assists with researching new to market (or new to Sage) drugs. Participates in the development of Medication Safety Protocols, Updating the Tests Required/Medication Times documents, and website descriptions for medications.
- Participates in Clinical Trials
- Hosts 1 Clinical Call per quarter with a presentation or coordination with local rep for in-service.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Licensed professional who specializes in infusion therapy and the administration of biologics and other necessary medications, intravenously
- Subject to license verification, criminal background check and drug screening
- Licensed to practice as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Florida
- Compliance with continuing and mandatory education
- Practices nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of Florida
- IV experience is mandatory
- Credentialed with insurance payors is required
- BLS required, ACLS preferred
- ER experience is highly preferred
- Ability to speak Spanish is highly preferred
