Requirements
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a program at an accredited community college or university leading to a degree in biology, biochemistry, environmental science, kinesiology, ergonomics, nursing or related fields.
  • Applicants must have completed at least 48 semester units or 72 quarter units by the application filing deadline.
  • Interns must maintain enrollment at an accredited community college or university for continued employment as an Occupational Health and Safety Intern.
  • Applicants must be able to sustain physical effort, including continuous walking, bending, and climbing ladders, while working in the field and from vessels with potential exposure to health and safety hazards.
  • Applicants must be able to travel to various locations throughout San Francisco.
Responsibilities
  • Meet with employees to follow up on safety concerns.
  • Maintain databases such as hearing conservation, medical monitoring appointments, and safety data sheets.
  • Assist with coordinating safety and health training programs.
  • Review and update training content and employee training files.
  • Participate in ergonomic assessments.
  • Conduct basic safety inspections.
  • Assist with ordering and tracking safety purchases.
  • Assist with industrial hygiene monitoring.
  • Develop draft Codes of Safe Practices for maintenance operations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Ability to work with a variety of people in a team setting and work independently with appropriate supervision.
