Responsibilities
  • Ensure accounting records, monthly accounting close activities, and variance analyses are properly prepared, maintained, and explained in a timely manner.
  • Identify and communicate risks and issues impacting the financial area of responsibility.
  • Establish structures and standards to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and operating effectively.
  • Manage departmental projects and process changes to improve work-process efficiency and reduce low-value activities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, complex balance-sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses in accordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Monitor transactional flow through various systems to ensure accurate financial results.
  • Participate in enterprise projects by developing appropriate requirements, understanding impacted systems and transactional flow, and ensuring regression testing is performed.
  • Create operational processes for functionality delivered through enterprise projects, including assessing the control environment and potential audit requirements.
  • Drive department goals and vision forward within the team.
  • Review other team members' work and provide constructive feedback, guidance, and coaching.
  • Coach and develop team members' business, system, process, and accounting acumen, while supporting their career goals and development.
  • Translate broader business initiatives into clear team objectives and concrete individual goals.
  • Create a team environment that motivates people to deliver results.
  • Delegate responsibility and accountability for routine and important tasks and decisions to direct reports.
  • Hold development discussions and provide challenging tasks and assignments to promote team-member development.
  • Monitor progress and results, provide effective feedback, and make appropriate personnel decisions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP and BPC.
  • Master's degree.
  • Certified Public Accountant credential.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Retail or financial-services industry accounting experience.
