About the role

Unit21 is currently looking for a Sr. Product Designer who is interested in taking the lead with our Product Design team. This is a unique opportunity to set up the foundation for a Product Design org and contribute to the evolution of our Product / Engineering orgs. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Set up the foundation of our Product Design team 
• Create and integrate processes within the Product Design, Product, and Eng teams
• Lead and guide members of the team to better understand our systems 
• Design simple, easy-to-use flows and experiences that delight our customers
• Partner with PMs, engineers, and technical writer to oversee user experience for products and features from conception to launch
• Develop deep empathy for our customers and translate both qualitative insights and quantitative data into creative ideas and informed design decision
• Cultivate a creative design process that is built on strong cross-functional collaboration
• Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the product team
• Design product concepts that balance vision, craft, speed, and business potential.  
• Partner closely with our Customer Experience, Sales, and Customer Success teams to understand what each of our diverse user segments needs, and wants from Unit21
• Work with Marketing to devise new ways to tell great stories throughout the user lifecycle and across our site, product, help guides, and other channels
• Evolve our design system intentionally as we scale

What we are looking for: 

• 5+ years of experience in Product Design
• Willingness to coach other team members to creating intuitive designs 
• Experience building SaaS products
• Proficiency with Figma (our primary tool)
• Experience working with complex workflows across multiple product areas
• Extensive experience designing products from MVP to ideal state and developing experiment-driven work
• Bonus points if you have experience building out and maintaining design systems
• Bonus points if you’ve previously lead a team
• Ability to form clear hypotheses around design decisions and lay out a path to validate them
• Extensive generative and evaluative research experience
• Experience balancing long-term design goals with an Agile-based iterative approach
• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating across the entire company
• Ability to embrace ambiguous situations as opportunities to create
• Passionate about your point of view but open to changing it based on new data findings
• Basic coding in HTML + CSS + basic Javascript (Bonus points for experience with procedure or React-level Javascript)
