The Position

The Associate Scientist will be part of a team responsible for performing various analytical assays to support translational biomarker strategies for drug development candidates. The ideal candidate should have excellent hands-on laboratory experience and possess a strong understanding of the scientific principles of common laboratory techniques. He/she will also have strong communication skills, ability to work in a matrixed-based, fast-paced environment, solid problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

Conduct/execute in vitro, ex vivo and/or in vivo studies to facilitate drug discovery and development with some independence
Perform gene or protein biomarker expression analysis using various methods
Propose and carry out ways to optimize test methods
Occasionally present research findings to project teams and governance bodies and prepare study reports
Occasionally read relevant scientific literature and propose applicable suggestions for problem-solving
Perform critical experiments with adherence to prescribed specifications
Support team lab management activities
Maintain a high level of productivity and quality in the lab

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Biology or related field
3+ years of experience in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology or a related field of biology
Experience in standard cellular and molecular biology techniques (Cell culture, ELISA, Cell-based assays, Immunofluorescence, Western blotting, Microscopy, RNA/DNA isolation, qPCR)
Excellent problem-solving skills in assay design, data analysis and interpretation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Self-motivated team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment

Preferred:

Industrial experience in a regulated lab environment a plus

Wisconsin pay range

$65,000—$78,000 USD
