Requirements
  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • The position is not eligible for employer-sponsored employment authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Gather and synthesize data about the College Development team's fundraising progress, pipeline, and prospect pool; prepare reports and organize materials related to fundraising activity and campaign operations.
  • Serve as project manager for the College Development Campaign Management team and provide general writing and copy-editing support for fundraisers and key partners working on behalf of the College.
  • Maintain accurate records of communications-related activity in the customer relationship management system and enter contact reports, meeting summaries, and correspondence on behalf of senior leaders.
  • Support the Director of Campaign Management in researching, articulating, and disseminating information about fundraising priorities and gift opportunities.
  • Manage the gift acknowledgment process for alumni, parents, and friends of the College; craft personalized thank-you messages on behalf of senior leaders; oversee a weekly deployment schedule and use technology to ensure efficiency and timeliness.
  • Draft, assemble, and coordinate written materials supporting fundraising activity, including donor correspondence, prospect strategy briefings, event remarks, talking points, gift proposals, and other deliverables.
  • Support the Associate Director of Communications in creating and executing a College Development communications framework.
  • Provide writing and copy-editing support for fundraisers and key partners across College Development.
  • Pursue professional development that enhances job performance, including attending webinars and seminars and building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.
  • Apply an understanding of fundraising operations for a school or department; identify budget requirements and staffing needs on a project or event basis.
  • Draft informational and marketing materials for review for assigned programs and assist in developing support materials for specific fundraising activities.
  • Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business and work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • At least two years of professional experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales, or a similar field.
  • Experience writing for both internal and external audiences and conveying nuanced, actionable information in varied formats.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, the University's internal workings and the Office of Advancement's technology tools, including Phoenix, the University's donor relationship management system.
  • Proficiency in a Microsoft Windows computer environment, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Ability to listen, speak, and write effectively and explain complex ideas clearly and simply.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Ability to self-motivate and take initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and independently follow through with attention to detail.
