Hello 👋 I’m Grace, Chief Medical Officer at Miga.

I’m excited to open this position for a full-time health coach to join Miga and help us prevent the next million heart attacks and strokes.

Every 20 seconds someone has a heart attack or a stroke. Our mission at Miga is to overcome this unacceptable status quo. The health coach will be an important part of our team and integral to the number of lives we can serve (and save).

The ideal candidate has a background in nutrition, exercise science, or behavioral health, has experience with face-to-face coaching and/or motivational interviewing, feels at ease with technology, is excited to work in a fast changing and scaling organization, and brings creativity and an ownership mentality to program design and management. You will play an integral role in motivating patients around habits and lifestyle change, as well as help to manage our remote patient monitoring (RPM) program.

Who is Miga?

• Miga is a virtual cardiometabolic clinic.

• We prevent and manage obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes, using medications and intensive lifestyle interventions.

• Our clinical care is delivered over video visits and async chat by physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), registered dietitians, and health coaches.

• Care is augmented by a character-driven, gamified app, connected devices, and our own tech platform that enables scalable, efficient, and high-quality clinical services.

• Salary range = $60,000 - $75,000 per year.

What is my mission?

Provide guidance, accountability, and motivational interviewing to patients on lifestyle (nutrition, physical activity, stress, sleep, and tobacco use), habits, and health goals through video visits, and document interactions to share with the rest of a multidisciplinary team.

What will I do?

1. Complete 32.5-hours of synchronous video visits with Miga patients per week.

2. Prepare for visits by reading chart notes from the rest of a patient’s multidisciplinary team (including a provider [physician/NP/PA] and registered dietitian) so that other team members’ recommendations can be reinforced during visits.

3. During visits, coach patients on lifestyle, habits, and health goals across nutrition, physical activity, stress, sleep, tobacco use, and medication adherence.

4. Retain over 80% of patients that start health coaching with you in the health coaching program.

5. Clearly and concisely document video visits within 24 hours in a health coaching note template so that the rest of the multidisciplinary team understands the content of the coaching visits.

6. Incorporate coaching around remote patient monitoring (home weight and blood pressure readings) into patient visits.

   1. Escalate too high or too low blood pressure readings to clinicians.

   2. Encourage patients to monitor their weight and/or blood pressure daily.

7. Communicate with patients asynchronously using our provider app.

Who is Miga looking for?

We are looking for full-time health coaches with a background in nutrition, exercise science, or behavioral health.

Ideal candidates will be:

• Passionate about cardiometabolic health;

• Patient-centered and skilled at motivational interviewing;

• Efficient, clear, and concise at communicating with patients and other team members;

• Excited to work on a multidisciplinary team with physicians, APPs, and registered dietitians;

• Technically proficient and willing to learn and work in multiple new technology platforms;

• Self-starters and problem solvers who bring an ownership mentality to their work; and

• Team players who are adaptive to change in a rapidly growing and iterating organization backed by a supportive team and culture.

What does the interview process look like?

At Miga, our team and interview process are designed to help you show your best self.

1. A 25-minute phone call with Zach Shepherd in our People Operations team.

2. A 45-minute interview with the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Grace Hunter regarding your work history.

3. Two 30-minute focused interviews with:

   1. Our lead Health Coach Judy Socha MPH NBC HWC

   2. Our Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Jarrad Aguirre,

4. Reference checks with former managers and colleagues.
