Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical (Power) Engineering and at least five years of work-related experience are required.
  • United States citizenship is required due to the federal nature of the work.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a government-issued clearance, if needed, is required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards, including Department of Energy orders, is required.
  • Create and modify electrical design drawings, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagram layouts, raceway, lighting, and grounding drawings.
  • Perform complex electrical system studies, including short-circuit, load-flow, stability, motor-starting, harmonics, relay-coordination, and ground-grid studies.
  • Develop area classifications and electrical design documents.
  • Perform electrical calculations, including short-circuit, relay-coordination, voltage-drop, cable-derating, and cable-pulling-tension calculations.
  • Prepare motor schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience providing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction services on commercial or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency executing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects using engineering analysis, three-dimensional modeling, and two-dimensional Computer-Aided Drafting and Design automation tools in a multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding technical solutions to intermediate-complexity problems in accordance with project requirements.
  • Develop and review specifications and design criteria.
  • Perform and check engineering analyses and calculations; specify materials, equipment, and systems; and solve intermediate-complexity technical problems.
  • Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.
  • Execute work in compliance with the Project Quality Plan and procedures.
  • Execute work in accordance with approved project scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
  • Establish, control, and report material key quantities and provide analysis and forecasts.
  • Provide technical support for equipment and material procurement and subcontracting, including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and vendor-submittal reviews.
  • Provide technical support for construction administration, including responses to construction requests for information and field changes.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Professional Engineer license is desirable.
  • Experience designing systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under American Society of Mechanical Engineers NQA-1 requirements is desirable.
  • Practical field experience is desirable.
  • Experience executing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects for U.S. Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government agencies is desirable.
  • Experience executing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects for nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program is desirable.
  • Experience executing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries is desirable.
  • Proficiency with Visual Professional lighting design software is desirable.
  • Proficiency with Intergraph Smart3D is desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical power systems software, such as SmartPlant Electrical and Electrical Transient and Analysis Program, is desirable.
  • Intermediate knowledge of power systems is desirable.
