Requirements
  • A tenth-grade education is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One year of laundry experience is preferred; on-the-job training is provided.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Must be able to lift, transfer, push, or pull residents, patients, or equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The role is subject to exposure to residents and patients with various disease processes, infectious waste, disease conditions, AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses, falls, burns, odors, and cuts.
  • The role has Risk Category I exposure to bloodborne diseases.
Responsibilities
  • Perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with company standards and applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Collect, launder, redistribute, and inventory linens and personal laundry according to established procedures.
  • Press and iron garments as instructed.
  • Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, and garments to residents and linen closets daily or as instructed.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of laundry and linen in laundry closets for residents and staff members.
  • Maintain quality assurance, infection control, and universal precaution practices during laundry procedures.
  • Report damage or repairs needing attention to the supervisor.
  • Share observations and operational insights that may improve departmental quality and efficiency.
  • Attend all-employee and departmental meetings and scheduled or directed in-service training.
  • Listen and respond to the needs of residents and staff members.
  • Honor residents' personal and property rights while performing laundry duties.
  • Maintain current and accurate records using computers and other documentation in accordance with company and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
