Key acquisitions during Leagh's tenure include Cirtuo, Scoutbee, Rossum and Tonkean. Under Leagh's leadership, Coupa moved quickly to expand its platform through acquisition, closing four deals in the space of a year as part of a stated ambition to build what executives called 'the world's foremost agentic trade network'. The run began at Coupa Inspire 2025 with the acquisition of Cirtuo, a Croatia-based AI category management platform. Cirtuo's technology added guided category and supplier strategy tools to Coupa's Total Spend Management suite, along with initiative management capabilities to track savings and risk through to completion. This was followed in late 2025 by a definitive agreement to acquire Scoutbee, an AI-powered supplier discovery platform. Integrated into Coupa's network of more than ten million buyers and suppliers, Scoutbee's large language model search technology was designed to speed up supplier matching and automate up to 80% of onboarding data entry. At Coupa Inspire 2026, Leagh announced the acquisition of Rossum, a market leader in intelligent document processing. The deal built on a partnership dating back to 2024 and extended Rossum's transactional large language model across Coupa's entire source-to-pay portfolio, with Leagh predicting the technology could help customers save a further $300bn within five years. The fourth acquisition, agentic intake and orchestration platform Tonkean, rounded out the strategy by adding a no-code process builder and multi-agent orchestration capabilities to the Coupa stack, joining Cirtuo, Scoutbee and Rossum as the building blocks of Coupa's push towards autonomous spend management. Coupa launches largest AI release for procurement teams. Mon, 24th Aug 2026 (Today) Coupa has launched what it describes as its largest product release to date, with more than 250 changes focused on artificial intelligence tools for procurement and finance teams. The update expands the company's use of autonomous software agents across sourcing, payments, invoicing and expense management. It also adds a new data product, Spend Pulse, and broader integration with external AI systems through Model Context Protocol. More than 450 customers are now using Coupa's AI agents in production. Some have recorded reductions of up to 50% in requisition cycle times and 40% in sourcing cycle times since the first release of its Navi agents. Coupa is also opening its platform to external AI agents, including Microsoft Copilot and custom-built systems, through MCP integration in Navi Connect. The framework provides more than 30 pre-built tools covering procurement, invoicing, contracts and expenses, with access governed by existing user permissions and security controls. AI rollout The latest release marks a push to move AI agents from targeted pilots into wider operational use. Custom agents built through Agent Studio have become the platform's most-used AI feature, with more than 400 created since the tool was introduced. More than 50 specialised Navi agents have now been released across products in early access, limited availability or general availability. Newly generally available agents include tools for checking invoice attachments against invoice records, identifying early payment discount opportunities, and separating hotel room rates, taxes and meals on expense claims. In accounts payable, Coupa cited one customer using its Navi Payment Batch Creation Agent. The tool ran 14 payment batches in five weeks, processing 2,395 payments worth USD $20.1 million. That deployment used about USD $27 in AI credits and helped the customer save USD $2,000 in accounts payable staff spend in one week, allowing staff to focus on other work. Market data Another element of the release is Spend Pulse, designed to bring external market information into supplier negotiations. The product links US Bureau of Labour Statistics inflation data with enterprise spend data so procurement and finance teams can compare supplier pricing discussions against published economic indicators. The aim is to provide a common reference point in negotiations and improve visibility into changing cost conditions. Spend Pulse is currently in limited availability. Coupa is also adding more automation to sourcing work. Autonomous sourcing event creation and AI-guided supplier onboarding are intended to reduce manual steps such as template selection, item re-entry, supplier vetting and duplicate checks. According to the company, fully automated intake-to-award sourcing flows could cut cycle times by about 80%, while leaving people responsible for oversight and approvals. Broader platform The release also reflects recent work to integrate assets acquired through Rossum and Tonkean into the core platform. Coupa says those businesses have strengthened its document processing, intake and workflow orchestration functions in accounts payable and broader spend management processes. More than 40 customers have adopted the integrated Rossum and Tonkean offerings within two months of the acquisitions being completed. The additions support document ingestion, accounts payable automation and workflow hand-offs across enterprise spending processes. Coupa also pointed to a global chocolate and confectionery manufacturer using AI-guided purchasing tools to assess category dynamics and supplier risk in real time, alongside recommendations based on its own buying history and volumes. Salvatore Lombardo, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Coupa, outlined the company's position on the shift. "We are shifting the modern procurement and finance leader from running manual operations to directing a high-performing, AI-augmented engine," Lombardo said. "By letting autonomous agents handle complex payment, sourcing, and supply chain workflows, our customers can eliminate bottlenecks and focus their people on delivering transformational business outcomes that multiply their margins," Lombardo said. Coupa says its platform draws on a dataset of more than USD $10 trillion in community-generated spend information and serves a network of more than 11 million buyers and suppliers.
Coupa, Verisk & WPP lead Procurement Orchestration debate. August 21, 2026 João Paulo da Silva, Regional President EMEA & APAC at Coupa, joins Verisk, WPP, Paramount and Just Eat leaders for the procurement orchestration panel Secure your tickets for Procurement LIVE, 8-9 September. Procurement's technology conversations have a new focus. After a decade dominated by source-to-pay suites and point solutions, the industry has converged on a single term to describe what comes next - orchestration. As companies continually strive for greater efficiency, transparency and cost-effectiveness, procurement orchestration has become more pivotal than ever. It serves as the backbone of streamlined operations, integrating functions such as supplier management, contract management and analytics into a single cohesive system. These systems are making a real impact across the industry and should be firmly on procurement's radar. The case for orchestration starts with statistics from Gartner's Innovation Insight: Procurement Orchestration Platforms report. Gartner found that 93% of procurement organisations name efficiency as their top digital priority, yet 85% are still running on a patchwork of disconnected systems that slow decisions down and frustrate the people who have to use them. Procurement orchestration - Key facts: * Gartner found that 93% of procurement organisations name efficiency as their top digital priority * 85% are still running on a patchwork of disconnected systems that slow decisions down and frustrate the people who have to use them. * Procurement teams typically use less than 20% of the information they generate, simply because it's scattered across disconnected tools * 30% median improvement in process efficiency and automation (ORO Labs' 2026 Procurement Orchestration Study Results) * 20 days faster source-to-contract cycle times (ORO Labs' 2026 Procurement Orchestration Study Results) * 25% of cost reduction and avoidance attributed directly to orchestration (ORO Labs' 2026 Procurement Orchestration Study Results) * 93% positive user experience among procurement teams using formal orchestration (ORO Labs' 2026 Procurement Orchestration Study Results) That gap between ambition and reality is precisely what orchestration platforms are designed to close, by connecting intake, workflows and supplier management into something that behaves like one system rather than many. CPOs surveyed by McKinsey & Company, highlights the cost of this fragmentation. Procurement teams typically use less than 20% of the information they generate, simply because it's scattered across disconnected tools. The Hackett Group and ORO Labs go further, describing orchestration as the first genuinely new core procurement technology category to emerge in over a decade. Orchestration at Procurement LIVE. At Procurement LIVE this September, the procurement orchestration platforms panel, sponsored by Coupa, will bring leaders together to unpack what that actually means in practice: from how requests enter the procurement function, to how prioritisation and cross-functional collaboration get built into the day-to-day. Hosted by Matt High (BizClik), the session brings together procurement leaders from across insurance, advertising, entertainment and food-tech, alongside one of the sector's leading technology vendors: João Paulo da Silva is an enterprise software executive with over two decades of global leadership. Prior to Coupa, he advised private equity firms, served as senior advisor at KPMG, and held key SAP leadership roles. He believes that: "AI is now a strategic priority, but without a strong data foundation, it's difficult to move beyond experimentation. "Organisations need real-time visibility and control over their spend to unlock the full value of AI and drive measurable outcomes."
