Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of specialized courses conducted by vendors is required.
  • Three to five years of mortgage or similar industry-related experience is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, members, and the general public.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
  • Loan officers engaged in residential mortgage originations must register with the federal registry system and maintain good standing under the SAFE Act.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of member, employee, and Credit Union information.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and perform the stated physical functions of the position.
Responsibilities
  • Work with the Mortgage Loan Originator and members to ensure required documentation is collected during the loan application process for underwriting.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of lending policies, guidelines, and interest rates.
  • Assist the Mortgage Loan Originator and members with mortgage rate and product inquiries.
  • Prepare, analyze, and submit complete files to the PFCU underwriting department and secondary-market underwriting, and review files approved through Desktop Underwriter.
  • Send exceptions to the PFCU mortgage underwriting team for secondary review.
  • Prepare and verify submission packages and submit them to lending authorities for decisions.
  • Review appraisals for accurate information and submit them to underwriting for approval.
  • Ensure all underwriting conditions are cleared and the member experience remains uninterrupted.
  • Maintain knowledge of Credit Union mortgage products, lending policies, and secondary-market programs available to members.
  • Participate in training, conferences, educational functions, and meetings as requested by management.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and security of the work area and equipment while protecting confidential member information.
  • Perform mortgage servicing functions as needed.
  • Follow regulatory and policy compliance requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control, Red Flag, and Anti-Money Laundering regulations.
  • Follow all security policies and procedures.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
