Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work-related experience should consist of financial-institution cash handling and customer service.
  • Experience, knowledge, and training in branch operations, terminology, and products and services.
  • Business- or financial-industry-related educational experience through in-house training, formal school, or financial-industry curriculum.
Responsibilities
  • Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, outgoing wires, night deposits, vault transactions, and other member transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with night depository duties and armored-car deliveries, including logging bags, processing deposits, completing change orders, issuing receipts, and returning bags to members.
  • Operate a computer terminal or assigned computer to process account activity, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority.
  • Issue cashier’s checks and money orders.
  • Identify member needs and refer financial products and services to consumer and business members.
  • Receive and process stop payments and check-hold notices under Regulation CC.
  • Accept loan payments and notify the Loan Department for payment-processing confirmation.
  • Maintain and balance the cash drawer daily, verify cash transfers to the vault, and stay within daily cash-drawer limits.
  • Research and resolve cash-drawer discrepancies and maintain accurate teller-balancing records.
  • Address member inquiries and concerns and refer issues to internal resources or the Branch Manager for resolution.
  • Record, file, and update consumer or account information and reports as required.
  • Answer telephones and direct callers to appropriate credit-union personnel.
  • Gather data and process reports, including currency transactions, returned items, and callbacks.
  • Complete address-change forms and deliver them to the appropriate personnel for input.
  • Assist with ATM deposits and outgoing wire requests.
  • Assist the Accounting Department with research, including data for levies and garnishments.
  • Identify fraudulent activity to help prevent credit-union losses and inform members about online and mobile banking.
  • Assist with monthly branch certifications, including stop payments, holds, negotiable instruments, and key logs.
  • Maintain member and account files.
  • Open new accounts and perform account maintenance while remaining within Customer Identification Program and Bank Secrecy Act compliance requirements, including entity documents and beneficial ownership.
  • Refer loan requests to the appropriate lender.
  • Process check orders within the core system.
  • Process, resolve, and answer basic and complex member transactions, problems, and inquiries.
  • Assist with opening and closing the vault, preparing incoming and outgoing cash shipments, and balancing vault currency and coin.
  • Troubleshoot ATM and debit-card issues for members.
  • Assist with daily ATM and vault balancing and ensure sufficient terminal and vault supplies.
  • Complete ATM and debit-card orders.
  • Work at various locations when necessary to provide teller coverage.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with unannounced audits of branch funds and cash limits and help ensure compliance with credit-union policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
  • Perform the position safely, report potentially unsafe conditions, and comply with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and rules.
  • Follow credit-union policies and procedures and complete assigned tasks correctly and on time.
