Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or through the Nurse Licensure Compact is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Certification in the area of expertise may be required based on the assigned patient population.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, or Trauma Nurse Core Course certification may be required based on the assigned patient population.
Responsibilities
  • Lead shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure high-quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow.
  • Manage staffing assignments for incoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and team-member skill sets.
  • Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners.
  • Monitor patients in the area of responsibility, including closely monitoring seriously ill patients.
  • Coordinate or participate in patient care while ensuring compliance with physician orders, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Provide clinical support and serve as a resource for frontline team members and providers.
  • Support clinical collaboration focused on expected patient length of stay.
  • Perform direct patient care activities as needed to meet operational needs.
  • Conduct Nurse Leader rounds and investigate and respond to patient, family, and physician complaints.
  • Participate in or lead safety huddles.
  • Assess equipment needs and ensure staff have and can appropriately use equipment for patient care.
  • Maintain a regulatory-ready environment of care.
  • Allocate and adjust staff, assign meal breaks, and provide team-member relief as indicated.
  • Use fiscal management skills and financial resources in decision-making.
  • Attend leadership huddles, assist with new nursing and clinical initiatives, and foster multidisciplinary partnerships.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor for the nursing team.
  • Promote a safe working environment and support or coordinate follow-up related to workplace violence occurrences.
  • Apply clinical and critical-thinking expertise for the assigned unit or department and ensure care aligns with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in audits and collection of unit or department information to identify improvement opportunities and trends.
  • Promote high-quality nursing practice supported by evidence-based practice, research, organizational standards, and national standards.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures and applicable attendance standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • Certification in the area of expertise is preferred.

Florida cancer centre opens 31,000 sq ft St Petersburg facility with on-site imaging

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging. The facility offers advanced treatments including bispecific therapies and clinical trial participation, with plans to expand outpatient cell therapy programmes. Six board-certified medical oncologists and haematologists, supported by four advanced practice practitioners, provide care through a collaborative, patient-centred model.
