Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 1-3 years of part-time or full-time experience working directly for intercollegiate Student-Athlete Academic Services or in a comparable higher education area (general academic advising, etc).
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and computer skills.
  • High level of decision making and problem solving abilities.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to balance a wide variety of tasks and a large caseload in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Some nights and weekends may be required.
  • All applicants are subject to background checks.
  • Video conferencing may be part of the search process.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support to student-athletes in achieving academic, athletic, and personal goals while navigating eligibility regulations for practice, financial aid, and competition under institutional, Mountain West Conference, and National Collegiate Athletic Association rules.
  • Proactively monitor students’ academic progress and provide reports to supervisor, compliance staff, and coaches.
  • Ensure timely certification of designated sport teams.
  • Participate in the recruitment process and provide appropriate academic support through the student-athlete’s graduation from the institution.
  • Be assigned to teams and/or student-athlete cohorts by the Senior Associate Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Academic Services.
  • Occasionally require evening and weekend work and travel with teams.
  • This is an in-person, on-campus position.
  • Other duties will be assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working at a Division-I National Collegiate Athletic Association Institution.
  • Preferred knowledge of UNLV and Mountain West Conference policy and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the policies, procedures, and practices of academic support services related to student-athletes.
