Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of experience working with youth ages 6 to 18 are required.
  • Two years of experience coaching or implementing sports, fitness, or recreation programs are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and the Internet is required.
  • The ability to lift up to 35 pounds and work indoors and outdoors is required.
  • The ability to walk, stand, push, pull, balance, stoop, and kneel is required.
  • Employees must be eligible for employment in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate healthy lifestyle programs, including sports, nutrition and fitness, recreation, field trips, and sports leagues.
  • Facilitate BGCMC programs during intercession periods.
  • Monitor progress and take action accordingly, with emphasis on youth reach, including outreach, recruitment, retention, attendance, program participation, and impact.
  • Assist with Club-wide special events and Sports, Fitness & Recreation events.
  • Assist with delivery of the school-day program commitment established in annual and quarterly goals.
  • Provide youth with a safe, positive physical and emotional environment.
  • Uphold high expectations for youth.
  • Address youth behavior using a fair, firm, consistent, kind, and positive discipline approach, helping youth take responsibility for their actions with appropriate consequences.
  • Manage personal work, impact staff, and volunteers.
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of program spaces.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sports, Fitness & Recreation Specialist to hire, train, and manage Youth Development Professionals and up to four volunteers.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for youth and as a mandated reporter.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and facilitate implementation with clear goals, roles, responsibilities, and processes to ensure effective and accountable working relationships.
  • Lead or collaborate in off-site BGCMC youth development programs and activities, including the School Day Program, Catch The Bus, and Outreach.
  • Provide support to other program departments, including Education, Sports, Fitness & Recreation, and Technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An educational background in Health and Physical Fitness is desirable.
  • Experience as a youth development professional in the Boys & Girls Club Movement is desirable.
  • Cultural competence and the ability to work with diverse youth and people are desirable.
  • First Aid and CPR certification are desirable.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English proficiency is desirable.
