  • A minimum of 2 years of experience underwriting Management Liability lines, with demonstrated expertise across Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary, and Crime.
  • Post-secondary education, including relevant insurance designations or education, is considered an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures within the Management Liability industry, including complex account structures.
  • Proven ability to profitably grow and retain a portfolio of Management Liability business.
  • Proven analytical skills and a solutions-oriented approach to underwriting that drives profitable growth.
  • Ability to manage internal and external meetings professionally and clearly while driving mutual accountability for results.
  • Ability to manage change and adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly regarding policy terms, conditions, and manuscript wording.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across business units.
Responsibilities
  • Profitably grow the portfolio by generating new business growth above targets.
  • Profitably underwrite and retain an assigned Management Liability portfolio of complex accounts, including Public and Private Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary, and Crime.
  • Work closely with team members, management, and Management Liability Product Leaders to ensure consistency with underwriting protocols and product strategies.
  • At the Senior Underwriter level, provide mentorship to Associate Underwriters and Underwriters and serve as a key referral point for the team.
  • Prioritize workload effectively and provide customer service.
  • Drive innovation to improve the efficiency of the Management Liability renewal process and ease of doing business with clients.
  • Review and negotiate policy terms and conditions, including manuscript wording.
  • Lead account-rounding efforts by upselling additional lines of coverage to renewal business.
  • Organize and document each underwriting file properly.
  • Perform related duties, including report preparation, presentations, and special projects, to support the success of the product line unit.
