Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage F5 load balancers and related components within physical appliances and datacenters as well as the cloud environment to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Work closely with Systems, DevOps, and Cloud architecture and engineering teams to design F5 solutions aligned with business requirements and best practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents related to F5 infrastructure in a 24/7 operational environment, ensuring minimal downtime and disruptions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement F5 network changes and configurations for new and existing services in Azure.
- Implement security measures, SSL termination, and encryption practices to safeguard the F5 infrastructure and application traffic.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for F5 configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide support during off-hours for critical incidents and maintenance activities.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends related to F5 and Azure to propose and implement innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Proven experience as an F5 Engineer in a 24/7 operational context, with a focus on Azure environments.
- Strong expertise in F5 load balancers, including BIG-IP LTM, GTM, ASM, and APM, within an Azure setting.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell) and automation for F5 and Azure-based tasks.
- Experience in troubleshooting complex network issues and optimizing F5 solutions for high availability.
- Certification in F5 technologies such as F5-CA, F5-CTS, or Azure-related certifications is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, especially in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
- Flexibility to participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents as needed.
- Understanding of network Layer2 and Layer3.
- Understanding of firewall segmentation and NAT rules in the role it plays in load balancing and applications
- Experience with web application firewalls
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native tools and services in Azure and integrating F5 solutions within Azure architectures.
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC) methodologies.
- Familiarity with other networking and security technologies beyond F5, particularly within Azure environments.
- Experience with Microsoft based applications, IIS, and .net frameworks
