Member of Technical Staff

FutureHouse is a non-profit AI research lab building an AI Scientist to automate research in biology and other complex sciences. We are seeking exceptional computational biologists who are interested to build systems that can automate the process of data-driven discovery.

We are interested in applicants with a range of levels of experience. Compensation will depend on seniority. If you are primarily interested in building AI systems to automate data analysis, you should apply to this role; if you are primarily interested in using those systems to make individual discoveries in biology, you should apply to the wet lab researcher role. You can also apply to both.

This position is full-time in-person in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

Candidates who join us in this role will work on building AI systems to automate biological discovery, including:

• Building benchmarks to evaluate the performance of AI agents on data-driven discovery tasks.
• Using reinforcement learning, in-context learning, and so on to improve the performance of AI agents on those benchmarks.
• Collaborating with wet lab researchers to make new discoveries that can be validated in the lab.

Requirements:

• Experience with computational biology research. We are especially interested in candidates with a range of experiences, for example including sequencing data, human genetic data or population data, imaging data, and so on.
• Candidates who also have significant experience with AI and machine learning or with software engineering will be strongly favored.
