Job Description & Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking an Assistant Vice President of Tax. Reporting to the Vice President of Tax, this position assumes ownership of a wide range of functions covering domestic and international tax compliance with specific emphasis on the following:

• Prepare book to tax reconciliation for various partnership and corporate entities quarterly and annually. Assist in partnership tax allocations and waterfall allocations for purposes of GP Carry. Assist in life to date Carry reconciliation and Carry distribution. Track partnership/partner tax basis.
• Compile tax data and assist in provision of reports and work papers to outside tax preparer in support of the federal, state and foreign income and franchise tax returns. Engage in US reporting of foreign investments and reporting of US investments held by non-US citizens and foreign partners.
• Compile data for the performance of security/debt investment analysis to determine the proper tax treatment and tax adjustments.
• Perform interim year partnership projections and allocations to assist the Fund’s investors and the Firm’s partners for purposes of making quarterly estimated tax payments.
• Prepare income tax provision for purposes of GP tax distributions and assist in quarterly estimated income tax payments.
• Prepare quarterly and annual FAS 109 calculation on corporate entities.
• Respond to investor tax inquiries and tax due diligence inquiries.
• Research tax treatment of complex financial instruments and corporate actions of Funds.
• Assist in tax planning analysis and involvement in various special projects.
• Assist with responding to tax authority requests.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a self-motivated, diligent and hard-working team player who can work independently with our Fund accounting and General Partner accounting team.  Organizational skills are required to document all work and generate & maintain proper tax files. The ideal candidate:

• Must have Investment fund experience preferably with committed capital funds, with 6 or more years of tax experience from either Big 4 accounting firms or relevant asset management industry.
• Must have understanding of Investment fund structures.
• Must have knowledge of Investment fund tax accounting concepts including partnership tax accounting, tax allocations, management and incentive fees. Experience with financial services taxation, including PFICs, CFC, UBTI, ECI, etc.
• Must produce timely and accurate records, while maintaining meticulous work paper documentation. Attention to detail is critical.
• Exposure to taxation of debt instruments is a plus.
• Very strong communication and interpersonal skills; effectively build rapport with internal and external counterparties.
• Strong Excel skills.
• CPA preferred.

Expected annual base salary range:

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
