Requirements
  • Technologist or technical degree (CET, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Standards Development or Project Management

Responsibilities
  • Understanding the Business: Knowledge of the standards industry, government policy, and industry environment for assigned area of expertise including sector stakeholders, environment, trends, risks, influencers; applies industry knowledge to identify potential areas of new business opportunity; understands and can explain the Standards funding model specific for their area of expertise; understands Standards project management processes and can apply them to ensure project timelines are achieved within a defined budget.
  • Working Well with Others: Engage and manage a diverse stakeholder community of volunteers and coordinate with other CSA Group departments involved with development and publication of a standard or other business opportunities; works well as part of a team or can effectively represent CSA Group with clients or external groups.
  • Delivering Results: Delivers quality results on assigned targets or goals on time or ahead of schedule; manages activities of volunteer members of standards development committees with Chairs and Vice-Chairs to develop technical content, writing, and high-quality documents; prepares meeting agendas, minutes, draft standards within timelines and budgets; determines and manages resources required to complete a project and renegotiates commitments or deadlines to avoid surprises.

CSA Group develops and maintains more than 3,000 standards across 57 areas and offers Testing, Inspection, and Certification to help products reach global markets. Standards are published in print and electronic formats via an online store and guide quality, environment, safety, risk management practices. The Testing, Inspection, and Certification division audits and tests products to verify compliance with standards, enabling regulatory clearance and market access in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and beyond. By combining standards development with third-party conformity assessment, CSA Group serves a wide range of clients and aims to help organizations meet recognized standards and gain worldwide access to markets.

CSA opens lab to test medical-grade PPE

TORONTO – CSA Group has announced the opening of an accredited, special-purpose laboratory dedicated to testing and certifying the safety of medical-grade PPE. Until now, there have been no domestic providers of testing and certification services for medical-grade PPE.
