Savannah River Mission Completion

Savannah River Mission Completion

View

SRMC is a prime U.S. Department of Energy contractor that manages the treatment and disposal of radioactive liquid waste at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. Its work brings together BWX Technologies, Amentum, and Fluor under the Integrated Mission Completion Contract to run all liquid-waste facilities in one program. The process separates high-level waste, which is vitrified at the Defense Waste Processing Facility, from a large volume of salt waste that is solidified and disposed of in Saltstone Disposal Units. Its goal is to complete tank closures by 2037, using methods such as the Next Generation Solvent, drones, and artificial intelligence to map sites and optimize cleanup.
