PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of the role is to oversee the Underwriting Service Center of Excellence (SCE).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishes policies and procedures and ensures SCE operations provide coordination, efficiency, and consistency between locations.
- Manages the SCE by overseeing the day-to-day operations, including managing staff, developing, and implementing effective policies and procedures and ensuring that all the work is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Provides excellent customer service by being committed to developing and implementing strategies to improve customer satisfaction, responding to customer complaints, and ensuring that all customer inquiries are handled in a timely and professional manner.
- Develops and implements training programs which ensure team members have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their jobs effectively.
- Monitors performance and quality ensuring that all work is completed accurately and efficiently by developing and implementing performance metrics, overseeing that regular performance reviews are conducted by the team supervisors and implementing quality control processes.
- Effectively manages budgets and resources by strategizing new automation processes and helping to implement them, managing staffing levels and ensuring that all resources are used efficiently.
- Collaborates with other leaders and managers within the organization, including the underwriting team, premium audit, premium accounting, and risk management to ensure that all operations are aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Leads the team of SCE Supervisors.
- Creates a culture within the SCE that embodies our core values of focus, honor, passion and integrity.
- Guides the team with strategic and tactical direction.
- Fosters team engagement through leadership practices that emphasize development, recognition, and retention.
- Leads the performance management and development process for team members, offering coaching, development planning and performance management support to supervisor team.
- Provides team with support and guidance to help them solve complex problems and answer questions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required in Business Administration, Management or related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum 4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Working knowledge of insurance underwriting concepts and principles.
- Strong communication skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills, delegation and accountability skills and the ability to create a vision and strategy to drive the long-term success of the SCE.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and industry trends and be able to make strategic decisions that drive the long-term success of the SCE.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in an office environment, located in Sacramento, CA or Lake Mary, FL and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment. Expectation is for work to be performed in the office on a regular basis. Must have the ability to travel to other location every two months.
The current range for this position is
$99,166.86 - $167,238.07
This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
