Ionic sits at the crossroads of native and web technologies. With mobile solutions like Ionic Capacitor and Ionic Portals, web developers are able to create native iOS and Android apps, all while utilizing existing web technologies or native APIs accessible through JavaScript. To help us continue the rapid growth of both of these solutions, we’re looking for a Product Evangelist with a strong focus on native mobile development to empower companies and developers in their cross-platform development life cycle.

Product Evangelists at Ionic are representatives of the company who are technical experts, presenting and educating developer users and technical customers on Ionic products. They are also advocates for the developer user experience to the company. The focus of Developer Relations is to promote a healthy, productive relationship between developer users and Ionic products.

The Native Product Evangelist is a valued, collaborative developer experience team member, ready to jump into ideating / owning new campaigns and technical initiatives, giving presentations and workshops teaching developers about our cross-platform solutions, empowering potential and existing developer users with valuable resources (written, video, code, etc.). The successful candidate should be skilled at communicating and interacting with the developer community knowledgeably and with empathy.

In your role as a Product Evangelist, you’ll be measured on your ability to:

• Present talks, workshops, webinars, livestreams, office hours, courses, videos, etc. virtually and in person (both gated and free)

• Create and execute creative engagement campaigns, hackathons, and activities utilizing Ionic’s cross-platform technologies and other tools that they can interface with

• Produce high-value technical content and resources for potential and existing developer users of Ionic’s cross-platform technologies, as requested by customers, the community, and as driven by product needs

• Engage with sponsorships of events and projects, promoting the value of Ionic’s cross-platform technologies

Your areas of ownership will include:

• Advocacy for the continuous improvement of the Portals product and developer experience on behalf of Portals developer users

• Ownership of both strategy and execution of plans and initiatives to grow Portals and Capacitor developer use and satisfaction

• Thinking creatively and strategically to ideate and execute plans that continually improve developer engagement, growth, and experience for Portals and Capacitor

• Having a keen eye for competitive analysis and anticipating trends and shifts in the developer community, with an ability to create content, resources, and partnerships that keep Ionic at the forefront of the developer market

• Product-related technical enablement of Sales and Customer Success

To qualify for this role, you’ll benefit from having:

• Several years of experience as an advocate or developer in native mobile (iOS or Android) and / or cross-platform (Ionic, React Native, Flutter) development

• Strong organization skills and motivation to try new things and tell the story of Ionic, Portals, and Capacitor

• Experience working with a distributed team at a company with a primarily remote workforce

• Empathy for the developer community and interest in learning how to improve communication and resources for current and prospective developer customers

• Understanding of commercial and enterprise developer audiences

• Excitement to work at a company that moves quickly and strives not to get in its own way when progress needs to be made; rapid change and rapid growth appeals to you

• Experience working cross-functionally with teams like Product Management, Developer Relations, Product Marketing, Customer Success, and / or Sales Engineering

Fully remote, Ionic is currently a 100% remote workforce and was largely distributed prior to the pandemic (more than half the team did not work from the office). Our headquarters is located in Madison, WI.
