Requirements
  • Must be able to perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging exams on trauma and Level I Trauma and Academic Medical Center settings, including outpatients, inpatients (stable and ICU), research patients, and MRI-guided procedures.
  • Must obtain peripheral intravenous access and inject contrast material where required.
  • Must enter patient data into computer systems accurately and QA images and patient information for accuracy prior to sending to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Knowledge of the patient Bill of Rights and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and incorporating them into practice.
  • Maintains competent imaging skills in practicing modality and stays current with technology changes.
  • Assists physicians in all aspects of procedures in their assigned area.
  • On-call responsibility, if applicable.
  • Rotates through Main Department and all satellite areas.
  • Acts as a mentor and preceptor to new staff and students.
  • actively supports Albany Medical Center Hospital and the imaging department in maintaining proper accreditations.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide patient care appropriate to the age and special characteristics of the patient.
  • Completes hospital and departmental required education.
  • Pursues validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making and seeks guidance in areas of question.
Responsibilities
  • Performs technical MRI procedures and assists in clinical evaluation and care of patients in a fast-paced Level I Trauma and Academic Medical Center.
  • Creates diagnostic MRI images using modality expertise.
  • Maintains safe and positive patient experience.
  • Supports teaching and continues learning as technology changes.
  • Performs MRI exams on trauma, ER, outpatients, inpatients, research patients, and those requiring specialized MRI-guided procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with hospital/department policies and state accrediting standards.
  • Assists physicians in all aspects of procedures in their assigned area.
  • Enter patient data accurately and ensure QA of images prior to sending to PACS.
  • Maintain stock supply and linen in exam room; perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Participates in development and attainment of unit, department, and divisional goals; supports Joint Commission standards.
  • Pursues ongoing education and validation of knowledge base; seeks guidance when needed.
  • Establishes professional relationships with health care team members, patients, and families.
  • On-call duties as applicable and willingness to travel within department locations.
