REACHUP receives grant support from Sundt Foundation.

REACHUP receives grant support from Sundt Foundation. Tampa, Fla. - REACHUP is honored to receive a $5,000 grant from the Sundt Foundation in support of its mission to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Hillsborough County. REACHUP representatives visited the Sundt Foundation office to officially receive the generous grant award and share more about the work being done in the community. The funding will help REACHUP continue expanding community-based programs and support services for mothers, babies, and families throughout pregnancy and the postpartum journey. The grant will also support its broader "34 to Zero" fundraising campaign, an initiative named after the reality that in Hillsborough County, 34 mothers die for every 100,000 births, more than twice the state average, and that most of those deaths are preventable. Through this campaign, REACHUP is working to expand access to maternal health education, care coordination, and culturally competent doula support through its Doula Training and Resource Center, while aiming to increase the number of families served annually from 6,000 to 7,500. REACHUP Inc. is deeply grateful to Sundt Foundation for investing in organizations that strengthen local communities and improve the well-being of families across the country.

Community impact: how Sundt Construction supports AHP to combat food insecurity.

Community impact: how Sundt Construction supports AHP to combat food insecurity. Food insecurity remains a pressing challenge in Humboldt County, where many residents face homelessness or struggle to access enough nutritious food. Arcata House Partnership (AHP) has been a vital resource, providing thousands of meals and tons of food annually to those in need. Recently, AHP received a generous donation of $7,500 from Sundt Construction, highlighting how partnerships between business and nonprofits can create meaningful change. Sundt Construction's commitment to the community. Sundt Construction has been active on the North Coast for several years, working on various projects across the state. Beyond their construction work, Sundt employees contribute to the community through a unique employee contribution program where the company matches staff contributions. Each quarter, a committee made up of Sundt employees reviews and votes on which local causes will receive funding from these donations. "Improving communities where employee-owners live and work." - Sundt Foundation This quarter, Arcata House Partnership was selected to receive support. The funds donated by Sundt employees are invaluable for AHP's ongoing efforts to address food insecurity and homelessness in Humboldt County. This partnership shows how businesses can play a direct role in improving the lives of their neighbors. How AHP uses donations to fight food insecurity. The donation from Sundt Construction will support AHP's Emergency Food Program, which has a significant impact on the community. Each year, the program provides approximately 55,000 meals and distributes around 500,000 pounds of food. These numbers represent real people - families, older adults, and individuals who face hunger daily. Humboldt County has an extremely high rate of unsheltered homelessness. The fastest-growing groups among those experiencing homelessness are older adults and young families with children. AHP's programs focus on serving these vulnerable populations with compassion and dignity. The funds from Sundt will help AHP: * Purchase & collect fresh and nutritious food to distribute * Maintain current food distribution sites * Provide advocacy and support services for those facing homelessness * Empower individuals with resources to improve their situations The importance of local partnerships. Local partnerships like the one between Sundt Construction and AHP strengthen the community in multiple ways. When businesses invest in nonprofits, they help build a safety net for residents who might otherwise fall through the cracks. This collaboration also raises awareness about critical issues like food insecurity and homelessness. Sundt's employee-driven donation program encourages staff to engage with their community and make decisions about where their contributions go. This model fosters a culture of giving and shared responsibility. It also ensures that funds reach organizations making a tangible difference. How you can support the cause. Community support is essential to continue the work of organizations like AHP. Here are some ways individuals and businesses can get involved: * Donate funds or food items to local food programs * Volunteer time at food distribution centers or shelters * Advocate for policies that address homelessness and food insecurity * Encourage workplaces to establish employee giving programs Every contribution, big or small, helps build a stronger, healthier community.
