Senior Software Engineer I

Our team builds and maintains Work Insights, a feature that enables users to visualize and uncover key trends & activities in their data and in doing so unlock the power of business intelligence analytics right inside Smartsheet. The foundation of our product is a data integration platform that we’re scaling to support additional customer-facing analytics use cases.

The ideal engineer for the team will have experience working with data cloud warehouses and be familiar with building out and maintaining the infrastructure, ETL pipelines, and other components needed to help our platform scale. They should also be passionate about wanting to understand and address the challenges specific to serving analytics at scale. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who seeks to work on a team that has immediate impact and high visibility within Smartsheet.

Equally as important, the ideal engineer is product-minded and is able to work with multiple stakeholders inside and outside of engineering to help influence our roadmap and product direction. This person has a strong sense of ownership of their work, is always trying to anticipate the next step forward, and has the flexibility to adapt to customer feedback.

You will report to our Engineering Manager located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

• Design, implement, and maintain data-related solutions and services in close cooperation with engineering, product management, and UX
• Design and implement batch/streaming data pipelines and infrastructure
• Drive expectations within the team around good code quality & engineering best practices and act as a mentor to other engineers on the team
• Write and maintain infrastructure as code as part of good operational hygiene
• Drive quality and testing methodologies to ensure robustness of solutions

You Have:

• 5+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications
• Experience working with pipelines and cloud data warehouses
• Experience designing and implementing API-first services
• Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and AWS cloud architectures
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $145,800 to $210,600 | All other US States: $135,000 to $195,000.
