The Impact You’ll Make
Recursion’s mission is to disrupt drug discovery using our proprietary AI and our Industrialized Drug Discovery platforms. As a Principal Scientist, Oncology you will have an opportunity to lead first-in-class preclinical programs that target tumor-intrinsic pathways or intrinsic mechanisms of tumor immune resistance using the Recursion Operating System (OS) and our industrialized drug discovery workflows. You will leverage computational biology and digital chemistry technology to efficiently advance the most promising programs focused on eradicating tumors within novel specific patient subsets. You will lead and partner with a group of similarly dedicated scientists, collaborate extensively throughout the organization and externally. In this role you will:
- Lead and advance novel Oncology preclinical programs from Hit ID to Development Candidate
- Deploy core expertise in oncology to drive programs
- Leverage the Recursion’s OS to innovate on speed to the clinic
- Partner with computation, chemistry, and data science colleagues to disrupt the entire drug discovery process and impact patient lives
Location:
Making Salt Lake City your home base is ideal, however, we will consider remote work for this position. We ask that remote employees commit to regular on-site visits for routine work and departmental events.
The Team You’ll Join
Reporting to the VP, Oncology, you will join a diverse, dynamic team of innovative industrialized-minded scientists working to develop novel therapies for oncology using our Industrialized workflows. You will lead data-driven drug discovery projects in oncology by collaborating with in vitro and in vivo biology, chemistry, and data science team members. As our teams are small and nimble, we are excited by investigators with drive and ingenuity to develop and lead new programs in a bold novel way.
The Experience You’ll Need
- PhD and 5+ years experience OR MS and 8+ years experience applying professional competencies to fundamental problems of relevance to oncology drug discovery specifically in a biopharma industry setting
- Experience with design, execution, and analysis of a variety of in-vitro and in-vivo pharmacology experiments including in vivo PK/PD and efficacy studies. Note: This role will not involve at-the-bench experiment execution
- Experience managing external resources (CROs)
- Demonstrable experience advancing Oncology drug discovery programs from discovery to preclinical development
- Experience leading and prioritizing among multiple projects and efficiently advancing projects to Proof of Concept or no-Go decision points.
- Understanding of current state of oncology therapeutic development, biomarkers, and precision-based medicine
