- A high school diploma and/or GED is required.
- Graduation from a New York State-accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
- Current Medical Assistant certification is preferred, including certification through NHA, AMT, AAMA, or NCCT.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required, with in-person training through the American Heart Association.
- Strong clinical skills, including phlebotomy and aseptic technique, are required.
- Prepare examination rooms by sanitizing them, stocking supplies, and ensuring medications and vaccines are ready for the day.
- Review upcoming appointments and identify gaps in care, including mammograms, colonoscopies, and immunizations.
- Escort patients to rooms and manage patient flow to maximize efficiency.
- Take and record vital signs, patient history, allergies, medications, and current concerns.
- Assist with procedures, including electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, and in-office testing.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens and track and document results.
- Perform quality control on equipment and testing materials.
- Help at the front desk as needed by greeting patients, answering phones, and verifying insurance.
- Collaborate with providers and the care team to support patient outcomes.
- Current Medical Assistant certification through NHA, AMT, AAMA, or NCCT.
