Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three years of progressive and successful development experience in direct gift solicitation, preferably in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with prospects and donors and successfully move them through the moves management cycle.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proposal writing and the ability to deliver a compelling case for support.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver innovative ideas and programs.
  • Commitment to the appropriate use of sensitive, confidential constituent data and familiarity with relevant privacy laws.
  • Demonstrated time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel and work weekend/evening hours.
Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements a comprehensive development plan to increase philanthropic support for funding priorities within the University.
  • Manages a portfolio of more than 100 individual and household prospects.
  • Makes at least 6-10 significant prospect/donor visits per month. Qualifies 12-24 gift prospects per year.
  • Cultivates and solicits current use and endowment gifts directly, including proposal development.
  • Conducts 15-24 solicitations with emphasis on gifts exceeding $5,000.
  • Advises unit directors and other leadership on fundraising strategy, solicitation opportunities, proposal development, and identifies faculty to highlight to USF’s different giving audiences.
  • Partners with Corporation and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, and Annual Fund teams to achieve annual and campaign development goals.
  • Engages in collaborative efforts within the Development division to strategize solicitation approaches for key prospects.
  • Collaborates with unit directors to identify, recruit, and actively engage advisory board members with a focus on gift prospect identification, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Plan and execute small donor events and luncheons, and partner with Development Special Events on other events and lectures relevant to focus areas.
