Responsibilities
  • Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Assist, as required, with store operations.
  • Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
  • Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization.
  • Ensure that store is sufficiently stocked and “ragged out” in accordance with the “ARC COMMAND RAG OUT CALENDAR.”
  • Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
  • Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management.
  • Maintain a clean and clutter free work area.
  • Be well-versed in and comply with, Guide to Thrift Store & Donation Center Operations manual.
  • This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries; an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed by Supervisor).
  • Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor, Store Supervisor, Assistant Store Supervisor, and/or Administrator.
  • Cashier/Sales Floor: Comply with all cash handling and security standards as relates to cash register operations, daily sales reports and bank deposits.
  • Sort, price, stock and “rag out” showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
  • Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code
  • Maintain merchandise displays as directed.
  • Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, professional manner.
  • Sorter: Sort minimum of 300 store quality garments an hour by department.
  • Sorter: Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.
  • Sorter: Assist with hanging merchandise as needed.
  • Sorter: Assist running clothing racks as needed.
  • Hanger/Tagger: Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces per hour of clothing on rolling racks from sorting table by department on the correct hanger type, and by category in an 8 hour period.
  • Hanger/Tagger: Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.
  • Hanger/Tagger: Assist sorting clothing as needed.
  • Hanger/Tagger: Assist running clothing racks as needed.
  • Pricer: Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices determined by the style, quality and condition of each piece.
  • Pricer: Acquire and maintain knowledge of name brand merchandise and value.
  • Pricer: Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.
  • Pricer: Assist ticketing merchandise as needed.
  • Pricer: Assist with running clothing racks as needed.
  • Runner: Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category and color order.
  • Runner: Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned.
  • Runner: Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Runner: Assist hanging merchandise as needed.
  • Bric a Brac: Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
  • Bric a Brac: Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Bric a Brac: Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Bric a Brac: Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Shoes/Accessories: Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily.
  • Shoes/Accessories: Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Shoes/Accessories: Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Shoes/Accessories: Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Domestics: Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required
  • Domestics: Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Domestics: Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Domestics: Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Books/Records/Toys: Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.
  • Books/Records/Toys: Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item in accordance with established policies.
  • Books/Records/Toys: Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Books/Records/Toys: Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial Rag Out Calendar.
  • Furniture/Electrical: Sort, clean and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.
  • Furniture/Electrical: Ticket all electrical merchandise using “sold as is” tickets and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Furniture/Electrical: Complete furniture tickets and record required information assigning a fair market price for each furniture item.
  • Furniture/Electrical: Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Furniture/Electrical: Mark down furniture items on sales floor in accordance with policy.
  • Furniture/Electrical: Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of the sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks and parking areas daily.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor
  • Donations/Maintenance: Able to lift 100 pounds.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Receive and receipt, as per policy, all donated material in a courteous and efficient manner. Maintain cleanliness of all donation facilities.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Bale ragouts and trash as required.
  • Donations/Maintenance: Perform lawn and garden work as needed.
