Requirements
  • 1-3 years of relevant agricultural sales experience.
  • Basic understanding of crop production, including basic agronomics.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain successful business relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well within strict time frames despite numerous interruptions.
  • Ability to learn diverse product portfolios, margin expectations, and deliver profitability to the company and farmer-owners.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to accurately calculate information.
  • Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions.
  • Willingness to work the hours necessary to be successful and travel as needed.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and company-specific software, along with the ability to understand and utilize additional technological tools and resources.
Responsibilities
  • Gain in-depth knowledge and insight into assigned customers’ initiatives, goals, and strategies through regular interaction with all levels within the customer’s operation, including understanding the producer’s business drivers, strategy, and buying practices.
  • Utilize AGx, Connect, and other tools to assist customers in interpreting information and make sound recommendations.
  • Ask questions to understand the customer’s strategy and adapt the offering to best fit the customer’s goals.
  • Ensure producers’ objectives and targets are met by developing a Customer Account Plan, and regularly review the plan with the Sales Lead, Regional Director, and Operational team to identify, evaluate, and respond to key business issues and provide service to the customer.
  • Detail, position, and sell Keystone products and services during on-farm calls, telephone calls, text messaging, and other formats to achieve the communication style desired by the customer.
  • Set and achieve sales volumes, profit margins, and other goals for each assigned account.
  • Maintain account and sales call records via Keystone Connect and Strategic Account Profile Sheets.
  • Communicate daily with the Location Manager and Operations regarding account progress, account service, and potential issues or opportunities with assigned accounts.
  • Cooperate with decision makers and operational individuals across Grain, Agronomy, Energy, and Swine and Animal Nutrition businesses on account developments.
  • Provide customer service and act as a primary point of contact for customers, including resolving customer issues and complaints.
  • Develop work habits that create, build, and support the organization’s go-to-market strategy, and adapt to and communicate strategy changes to key stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in an agricultural-related field, or a combination of education and experience.

Keystone Cooperative is a farmer-owned cooperative supplying agricultural, energy and related services across Indiana and neighboring markets.
