Requirements
  • At least 3 to 4 years creating, writing, and editing newsletters. (*Your previous experience with newsletters does not need to be for a newsroom, but you must be able to demonstrate strong news judgement.)
  • Strong experience using analytics to make newsletter decisions and understand how readers are consuming what we send.
  • Experience using a/b testing tools and newsletter publishing tools. *(Meaning, you don’t want to just put together good newsletters and hit send: you want to make sure people read and enjoy them.)
  • Able to collaborate across teams, from product, to revenue, to editorial.
  • Must really care about connecting readers with trustworthy news stories.
  • Experience of managing a team and collaborating with cross-department stakeholders
  • Finally: you must be excited at the role newsletters can play in delivering the news to readers.
Responsibilities
  • Create and oversee a fresh approach for i's growing newsletter portfolio.
  • Use data and analytics to develop a deep understanding of our readers' behaviour when reading i's stories via one of our newsletters.
  • Create and set best practice designed to support the business's subscription and revenue ambitions.
  • Experiment with new ways to sell stories, A/B testing subject lines and other innovative ways to engage our readers.
  • Adopt a data-informed approach to increase open rates, engagement and sign-ups. Working collaboratively with our social team, find new ways to drive awareness of our newsletters on social media
  • Assess opportunities to launch new reader experiences driven by newsletters, conducting research and using data to guide judgement, and pitch ideas to the wider team.
  • Work with editorial, product and marketing to launch/develop new products and optimise existing offerings.
