Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • A minimum of six (6) months direct clinical experience in a health care environment. Hospital or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience with BA/MA preferred.
  • Excellent communications, verbal and written skills are a must.
Responsibilities
  • Oversees all Baker Act requirements and submissions to court to ensure compliance with Florida’s Baker Act Law.
  • Provides required and ongoing Baker Act training to all staff to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, i.e. BA Compliance.
  • Ensures timely submission of all required court documents, attends court hearings and facilitates/communicates with all parties involved in the court process.
  • Adheres to timelines related to transition from involuntary to voluntary admission, monitoring of first and second opinion deadlines, with timely filing of Petitions for Involuntary Placement with local Court guidelines.
  • Reviews charts daily for status of Baker Acts and updates legal status in EMR.
  • Keeps Court Roster up to date and accurate, ensures any changes are communicated to Team.
  • Sends email notifications to Leadership staff and all Providers regarding Baker Act timeframes when not on site.
  • Completes the 'Cover Sheet to the Department of Children and Families' Baker Act reporting form daily.
  • Solves problems and utilizes appropriate resources to maintain harmonious relationships within & outside the Department.
  • Assists with backup of front desk and unit clerk duties and performs any other duties as assigned or directed by the Supervisor.
