Job Summary:

As Manager, Software Quality and Test, you will be accountable for their team's success and responsible for managing all phases of the function to ensure the computerized system delivered meets the prescribed timelines at the right quality. In this role, you will drive quality & test advocacy, stakeholder management, risk & issue management and team management. The role may support customer validation activities to support the successful validation of our products and services within customer organizations, by leading a team and/or providing expert advice to stakeholders. In this role you will also take responsibility for talent, succession planning and supplier management (where appropriate) and will be required to make key decisions relating to test within the context of the delivery environment. Another key aspect of the role is the contribution to the continuous improvement of the capability within the organization to facilitate first-time-quality, and as such the role must be oriented towards teamwork in an emerging and flexible environment.

Key Accountabilities:

Testing:

• Determines testing policy, and owns the supporting processes including software security testing.
• Takes responsibility for the management of all testing activities within a development or integration project or programme.
• Manages all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable.
• Assesses and advises on the practicality of testing process alternatives, including automated testing. Initiates improvements to test processes and directs their implementation.
• Assesses suppliers' development and testing capabilities.
• Determines project testing standards for all phases, influencing all parties to conform to those standards.
• Manages client relationships with respect to all testing matters

Quality Assurance:

• Plans, organizes and conducts formal independent audits of complex projects, major programmes or functional areas.
• Evaluates, appraises and identifies non-compliances with organizational standards, and determines whether appropriate quality control has been applied. Prepares and reports audit findings and determines the risks associated with those findings and ensures that corrective actions are carried out.
• Reviews and analyses audit reports to identify common areas of non-compliance and identifies opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organizational control mechanisms.
• Performs audits throughout the supply chain.
• Plans and oversees the assurance activities of others.

Relationship Management:

• Identifies the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups. Translates communications / stakeholder engagement strategies into specific activities and deliverables.
• Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans.
• Provides informed feedback to assess and promote understanding.
• Facilitates business decision-making processes.
• Captures and disseminates technical and business information.
• Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.

Performance Management:

• Manages individuals and groups.
• Allocates responsibilities and/or packages of work.
• Provides support and guidance as required, in line with individual's abilities. Delegates responsibilities as appropriate.
• Advises individuals on career paths and encourages pro-active development of skills and capabilities.
• Sets performance targets, and monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria.
• Provides effective feedback, throughout the performance management cycle, to ensure optimum performance.
• Mentors individuals, possibly within other parts of the organization. Participates, as appropriate, in formal processes such as compensation negotiations and disciplinary procedures.
• Ensure all people related KPI’s and activities are consistently and fully achieved

Methods and Tools:

• Provides advice, guidance and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards.
• Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards.
• Implements methods and tools at programme, project and team level including selection and tailoring in line with agreed standards.
• Manages reviews of the benefits and value of methods and tools. Identifies and recommends improvements.
• Contributes to organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools

Problem management:

• Ensures that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and services.
• Ensures that such problems are fully documented within the relevant reporting system(s).
• Enables development of problem solutions. Coordinates the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures. − Analyses patterns and trends.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Proven experience managing and leading mentoring colleagues
• Experience using tools to communicate progress to Stakeholders
• Experience of regulated environments (GxP, Financial, etc…) or relevant testing experience from another domain that is transferable
• Understanding of Agile methodologies (preferably Scrum), UML, Object Orientated, Data Modeling, Process Modeling and/or other development methodologies
• Experience with Line Management and conflict resolution
• ISTQB Foundation or equivalent − ISTQB Advanced Level or equivalent practical experience
• Experience of working in and knowledge of the life sciences sector
• Solid Professional experience in the same or very similar role
• Proven line management and leadership management
