Requirements
  • Two to five years of heavy equipment experience.
  • A valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's license.
  • A clean five-year commercial driver abstract obtained within 30 days of starting work.
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO).
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) 2015 training.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to work in fluctuating climates and environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and wet conditions.
  • Comfort working in close proximity to water.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test and a fit-for-duty test.
  • Fluency in spoken, written, and read English.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
  • Operate assigned heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, low beds, graders, rock trucks, plow trucks, and water trucks, safely and effectively to support the roads and grounds division.
  • Perform finish grading operations accurately.
  • Follow legislative requirements, company policies, procedures, equipment-operation requirements, maintenance requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of assigned equipment, including regular inspections and maintenance checks.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and perform laborer duties as needed.
  • Communicate equipment issues and maintenance needs to appropriate personnel to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operation.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, including Job Hazard Assessments, Field Level Risk Assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Seek opportunities to improve equipment operation techniques and efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Supervisor, General Foreman, and Site Manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification.
  • Ground Disturbance certification.
  • OSSA Confined Space Entry and Monitor certification.
  • First Aid certification.
  • H2S Alive certification.
