V2 Update: Intelligent Octopus and dynamic tariffs

V2 update: intelligent octopus and dynamic tariffs. V2 tariffs feature release: A timeline update last updated: 2 january 2026 why this took longer delivering dynamic (intelligent) tariffs on V2 wasn't a simple feature add - it required a full platform re-write, effectively starting V2 again from scratch to modernise the complete architecture so it mirrors the reliability and control surfaces of its V3 platform. * when Hypervolt Limited launched V2, intelligent tariffs didn't yet exist as a mainstream concept. Although Hypervolt Limited always intended to support them, Hypervolt Limited were a one-year-old company at the time and didn't have the resources to deliver everything all at once. * that's why Hypervolt Limited never sold home 2 as tariff-integrated, and never promised it. There has at times been confusion between hypervolt's tariff tracking feature (still unique to hypervolt) and the concept of a dynamic/intelligent tariff integration - these are not the same thing. * in december 2021 (nine months after Hypervolt Limited opened its doors), the UK announced smart charging regulations, rendering Hypervolt Limited unable to sell home 2 after december 2022. This triggered a do-or-die campaign to release a new product generation; its narrow pool of resources was absorbed by releasing home 3 and later home 3 pro (its current generation). * since the release of home 3 pro in late 2023, Hypervolt Limited has raced to incorporate the widest possible array of intelligent tariffs for customers - and hypervolt now offers one of the broadest integration ranges available. Hypervolt Limited originally targeted may 2025 for this release, and later revised that to end of 2025. Hypervolt Limited is now a small amount past that second date. The core platform work is complete; what remains is the final device-side items, end-to-end validation, and a staged rollout. If you missed the previous update on this topic, you can read it here. What's complete - as of the 2nd of january 2026 these are the foundational components required for a safe, controlled launch. | area | what's included | state | notes | | V2 base system | networking, telemetry logging, indexing, network protocol | complete | core platform foundation is in place | | OTA updates (pi 4) | secure over-the-air update pipeline + device image for raspberry pi 4 | complete | enables safe upgrades and controlled rollout | | analytics infrastructure | integration with its modern data collection and warehousing pipeline, enabling near real-time device data delivery to third-party aggregators | complete | final verification is part of end-to-end testing | | MMS backend | multi-mode scheduling (server-side): timezone-safe scheduling via API (planned schedules + live control) | complete | device-side implementation remains | | MMS protocol | multi-mode scheduling device/cloud contract: timezone-safe schedule format and command schema | complete | ensures compatibility across device + server | shipping readiness: ~90% remaining work is validation, final device-side items, and staged rollout (beta | ramp | broader deployment). 90% what's left + rollout window (targets) target staged go-live: week commencing 12 january 2026 if end-to-end testing or partner enablement surfaces a blocker, the contingency window is week commencing 19 january 2026. | window | focus | output | notes / dependencies | | 2 - 4 jan | final device-side items + end-to-end validation | release candidate build | includes MMS device-side + device controls + full regression | | w/c 5 jan | limited beta (cap 200) + enablement work | invite-only rollout begins | assisted early installs; monitoring + rapid fixes | | w/c 12 jan | staged go-live + rollout ramp | expand rollout to eligible raspberry pi 4 devices | depends on clean beta metrics + partner-side enablement | | w/c 12 - 19 jan | raspberry pi 3 support | pi 3 build added to rollout | rolls in once buildroot + validation completes | | late jan | rollout completion | broader deployment across eligible devices | controlled ramp with pause/rollback capability | important rollout notes Hypervolt Limited'll keep this page updated if dates move - and Hypervolt Limited'll say why. For a release like this, the last stretch is disproportionately about safety, compatibility, and rollout control. This is a prolonged staged rollout. Hypervolt Limited will onboard in sequenced waves (10 people, then 20, then 50 and so on) while Hypervolt Limited gain confidence that nothing is broken. There is no way to jump the queue. Hypervolt Limited know some of you have been waiting a long time - please help Hypervolt Limited get this in your hands as fast as possible by allowing its limited support personnel and engineering team to focus on the rollout and the most urgent fixes first, should any arise. Why Hypervolt Limited is doing it this way: there are tens of thousands of V2 devices in the wild. If anything endemic happens, it immediately swamps support. Because this is a ground-up rework, Hypervolt Limited is treating it as an iceberg release - the visible functionality is a small portion of the work, and careful staging is what makes it safe to ship. Join the beta if you'd like to participate in the alpha or beta phases, please complete the registration form. Important! If you have already signed up for this beta during its previous announcement, you will be automatically prioritised. This helps Hypervolt Limited roll out safely, in waves, and prioritise support for early cohorts. Join the beta | opens in a new tab. FAQs quick answers to the most common questions about the V2 tariffs rollout. What tariffs will be supported? Octopus intelligent go and, subsequently, OVO charge anytime. How do I get access? Most users do not need to take any action. Hypervolt will deploy the update over the air throughout the rollout phases. Please complete the above form to participate in the alpha or beta phases. Pre-registration will be required if you wish to participate in the alpha phase. How do I activate octopus intelligent go or OVO charge anytime? Activation follows the same process as its hypervolt home 3.0 and home 3 pro devices and is managed through the octopus or OVO app. What if I experience issues with my home 2? If it concerns software issues related to this release, its team will do their utmost to help. For any other issues, Hypervolt Limited will deal with it as per the standard warranty procedure. What if I want to upgrade to the home 3 pro? Hypervolt Limited will continue to offer preferential pricing and a promotional free five-year warranty to home 2 users until the end of january 2026. For more information, please refer to the official upgrade policy: hypervolt upgrade policy. Are there other features coming to home 2 devices? As necessary to serve out warranty requirements, Hypervolt Limited will continue with patch and bugfix releases. At this time, there are no other planned feature releases.

EDF and Hypervolt expand EV flex opportunity

EDF and Hypervolt expand EV flex opportunity. by new power - november 10, 2025 - 0 comments. EDF and Hypervolt have teamed up to launch Ultra Mode, a new smart charging feature that rewards electric vehicle (EV) drivers for supporting the grid. EDF is a Virtual Trading Party (VTP) in electricity markets, which allows it to sell aggregated flexibility into wholesale and local markets to support a more stable, efficient and low-carbon system. For example, 10,000 EVs connected via EDF (which trades with its PowerShift platform) can provide 10MW of flexible power. Ultra Mode allows eligible drivers to earn cash rewards by charging their vehicles at optimal times, even if EDF is not their regular energy supplier. EDF PowerShift automatically schedules charging when electricity is cheaper, while ensuring mobility needs are met. By opting in, drivers receive monthly payments. Stuart Fenner, Wholesale Market Services Commercial Director at EDF, said: "Smart home EV charging helps make the grid cleaner, more flexible, and more cost effective. With Hypervolt's UltraMode integrated with our PowerShift platform, EV owners can get rewarded for activity supporting the grid." Flavian Alexandru, Founder and CEO of Hypervolt, added: "Ultra Mode is a Hypervolt innovation designed to put drivers at the heart of the energy transition. We're delighted to launch with EDF PowerShift, making smart charging simple, rewarding and effortless." EDF is expanding its flexibility services to all enabled behind-the-meter assets, to contribute towards the UK's target of 12GW of consumer-led flexibility by 2030.
