Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
  • Participate in purchasing for one or more departments, directing operational functions, scheduling, and team development as assigned.
  • Deliver customer service to the academic and co-curricular community while helping the store meet or exceed sales goals and identify business opportunities.
  • Motivate the team and support training, directing, and counseling employees.
  • Develop working knowledge of all store departments to provide daily support, direction, and guidance to customers and team members.
  • Assign and direct work activities for team members or other management team members to ensure delivery of services, sales, and customer service.
  • Maintain a presence on the sales floor to greet customers, answer questions, and assist with merchandise or service purchases.
  • Manage customer and employee issues appropriately, timely, and respectfully.
  • Assist with hiring and training new employees for the sales floor or other departments.
  • Maintain an appealing sales floor by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or store space.
  • Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
  • Move frequently within the store to access departments, areas, and products.
  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Lift frequently and occasionally reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of supervisory experience or graduation from the Best Seller Program.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Barnes & Noble Education shares jumped 19.7% on Thursday following a mixed preliminary Q4 2026 earnings report and dividend announcement. The company expects approximately $263 million in revenues, below the $295 million analyst consensus and down from $278.3 million year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA is projected at $75 million to $77 million, representing a 26% to 30% increase from $59.4 million in fiscal 2025. Revenue is expected to reach $1.71 billion to $1.72 billion, up 6.2% to 6.8% year-over-year. The company's BNC First Day programme revenues are estimated to increase 27% to 28%, driven by strong institutional adoption of First Day Complete.
