What we’re looking for:
Nexamp is growing its construction team and seeking to hire an Assistant Project Manager (APM). We’re looking for an APM with experience in construction, engineering, or in designing/building projects. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers and Site Superintendents to support the execution of solar projects. You’ll play a critical role in the development of projects and working on multiple simultaneous projects as well as play a key role as the Company grows into new and developing markets.
You will be hybrid out of our Chicago office. You will report to the Manager, Construction Program.
What you’ll do:
- Support project managers on a variety of technical, commercial, and logistical tasks, including permitting, RFI’s, technical assessment, customer interaction, and utility coordination.
- Prepare AHJ permit packages and manage the permitting process; prepare bid documents and manage subcontractor bid/buy-out process and assist in any subcontractor invoicing questions/issues.
- Coordinate compliance of administrative and accounting requirements in subcontracts and maintain up-to-date records, assisting PM with the bid process as needed.
- Manage Subcontractor folders for projects
- Coordinate Building Permit submittal packages and submit Building permit application packages to AHJ when needed.
- Manage RFI’s through the engineering team by entering RFI requests into the appropriate software (Procore) working with PM to provide specific information that will need to be included in the request.
- Manage all subcontractor submittals through the designated approval process. Coordinate with PM to update major equipment delivery dates and follow up with vendors/procurement regarding delivery dates.
- Provide feedback/updates on any outstanding punch items generated by the QA/QC team.
- Support department improvements and Regional Director initiatives and provide suggestions and feedback for potential areas of improvement.
What you’ll bring:
- Equivalent construction work experience, ideally in the solar industry.
- Working knowledge of various areas of construction preferred (civil construction, electrical construction, utility construction).
- Experience with MS Suite, Procore and various other construction management tools.
- OSHA 10 is preferred.

- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
