Job Description
Position promotes student success, provides preventive services, and responds to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive developmental school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development of high school grade students. Develops and manages a comprehensive school counseling program for all students (PK-12th). Develops curriculum to all students focusing on Personal/Social Domains. Designs, delivers, evaluates, and revises a planned sequential developmentally appropriate programs needs of all students. Counsels with students to promote self-awareness, self-identity, and positive social and academic skills. Manages activities that establish, maintain, support, and enhance the total school counseling system. Plans/coordinates programs that are an extension of the counseling program, i.e., Individual Education Plans, Child Study Team, red ribbon week, bullying awareness week, clothes closet, food pantry, social emotional learning, and coordinating with parents for Mental Health Services.
Applicant must be willing to perform all job-related travel.
Trial period (if applicable) is required.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, State of Oklahoma Teacher’s Certificate or qualifications to meet certification. Certification in Counseling from the Oklahoma Department of Education.
Position is located at Oklahoma School for the Deaf (OSD) in Sulphur.
Background Check: The Department of Rehabilitation Services will conduct a criminal background check on new hires as part of an offer of employment that is made contingent upon a successful criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Expressive and receptive sign language skills with fluency in American Sign Language and counseling experience.
