Life Ring Foundation's Ballyhack tourney raises $2.15 million for child cancer care. The Life Ring Foundation's Play Yellow Invitational golf event raised $2.15 million from July 17-19, with all proceeds supporting expanding pediatric hematology and oncology resources through a partnership with Carilion Clinic. The funds help "accelerate improvements in clinical capacity, care coordination and family support services," according to a release. The proceeds are funneling resources for those who need it in Southwest Virginia. The organizations welcomed athletes, celebrities, community leaders and Fighting Kids Cancer Ambassador families to Ballyhack Golf Club in Charlotte. Select Medical Holdings has formed a joint venture with Carilion Clinic to construct and operate a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Select Medical will be the majority owner and operator of Carilion Rehabilitation Hospital. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026, with the facility opening by spring or summer 2028. The hospital will replace Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital's existing 34-bed acute rehabilitation unit and address growing demand for rehabilitation services across Virginia's Blue Ridge region. The expansion follows strong performance in Select Medical's Rehabilitation Hospital segment, which saw revenues increase 14.5% year over year to $351.9 million in first-quarter 2026. As of 31 March 2026, the company operated 41 rehabilitation hospitals across 15 states.
