Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a life science discipline
  • MS or PhD preferred
  • 10-15 years of project management experience in a biotech/pharma and/or academic research environment
  • 5-10 years of people management experience
  • Understanding of basic cellular and organismal physiology
  • Broad understanding of experimental and computational aspects of high-dimensional biology
  • Understanding of and demonstrated expertise with SDLC
  • Proficiency with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Google applications, LucidChart, and Jira
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented mindset
  • Willing to work onsite at least three days per week
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of project and program managers
  • Oversee the development and management of project plans and integrated timelines
  • Lead the development of processes and tools for planning, prioritization, and execution of projects
  • Lead multiple large scope, vaguely defined technology and research programs
  • Maintain and oversee the Calico project portfolio
  • Responsible for tracking resource forecasts and utilization
  • Meet regularly with Technology group leads to assess ongoing projects
  • Direct or manage cross-functional Calico-wide initiatives
  • Support the Head of Discovery Technology and Head of Research
  • Facilitate and document team meetings
  • Create collaborative partnerships and build and manage multiple teams
  • Act as alliance manager for external partnerships
