ROLE of the POSITION

Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialists perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position will maintain, repair, install, and operate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and refrigeration equipment. 

The position will also be responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment rated up to 480 volt, 3 phase; servicing and repairing all refrigeration systems, i.e. walk-in coolers, reach in coolers, refrigerators, air conditioning systems, and chillers; maintaining the operations of air handlers for optimum performance; maintaining and repairing all boiler systems; troubleshooting controls related to industry and repairing and/or replacing as needed; responsible for proper chemical treatment in both open and closed loop systems.

Knowledge of TMA is preferred. CFC Certification, 40 CFR Part 82, Type Universal is required. A copy of this certificate must be attached to your application. A valid Nevada class C driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. 

The work schedule is Sunday –Thursday OR Tuesday-Saturday or Monday –Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The schedule is subject to change depending upon the needs of the University.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• CFC Certification, 40 CFR Part 82, Type Universal is required. A copy of this certificate must be attached to your application.

• A valid Nevada class C driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

SALARY 

Grade 32, Step 1, salary $58,338.72. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
