Primary Function of PositionThe Core Technologies Engineering (CTE) group within Intuitive has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer Intern position in Sunnyvale, CA. We are building a suite of developer productivity tools to streamline the development of surgical robots. We do everything, from fast-and-correct distributed software build to fuzzing and dynamic code generation to improve the reliability of the codebase. Essential Job Duties

• Application development to streamline developer workflows: fast linters, code fuzzers, dynamic and static analyzers: you name it, we have it. It will be a tool that provides development productivity improvements. You will pick one project, integrate it into the software engineering flow, and measure its impact in three months.
• A successful candidate must excel in a high-energy focused team environment, have excellent communication skills, and be able to manage self-supporting production of results with the need to partner during planning, development, integration, and evaluation of research concepts and minimum viable products.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience building AWS apps application in any of the following languages: Python, Rust, or C/C++
• Exceptional interest in any of the following topics: compilers / build systems / linting / static and dynamic review
• Familiarity with Bazel/NixOS/Nix packaging is a plus

University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:

• University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program after the internship.
• Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.

Required Education and Training

• Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or related degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate level.
