Requirements
  • A minimum of an Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required.
  • Current Florida licensure and National Board Certification as a Dental Hygienist are required.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience in dental hygiene practice is required.
  • Knowledge of contemporary dental and healthcare practices is required.
  • Appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools must be met.
  • The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach, and stoop; sufficient eyesight and hearing; verbal and written communication skills in English; gross and fine motor coordination; manual dexterity; the ability to lift at least 30 pounds; and the ability to participate in moving a 150-pound incapacitated patient while ensuring patient safety.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct and evaluate theoretical knowledge, psychomotor skills, and affective competencies in the Dental Hygiene program.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills using an instructional internet platform.
  • Recognize and respond to individual differences among students and make students active partners in the teaching and learning process.
  • Teach day and/or evening classes as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff in Health Science programs and with other program areas.
  • Effectively instruct Dental Hygiene courses.
  • Evaluate student progress through examinations and observations of performance.
  • Support student success through individual counseling and advising.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of related student records.
  • Maintain course-related equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in department, division, and general faculty meetings.
  • Maintain professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs.
  • Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene is preferred.
  • Teaching experience with diverse populations is preferred.
  • Recent healthcare industry experience is preferred.
